Monitoring humoral responses against three SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in a university population from Chihuahua, Mexico

open access: yesJournal of Infection in Developing Countries
Introduction: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), the causative agent of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has spread worldwide since 2019. Survey of the antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 is one of the most important measures of

Obesity-Derived Biomolecules Promote the Differentiation of THP1 Monocytes to Macrophages In Vitro

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark
Background: It is well known that the microenvironment in which an immune response develops, generally pro-inflammatory or immunosuppressive, along with other overproduced biomolecules recognized by pattern recognition receptors, may ...

Low switched memory B cells are associated with no humoral response after SARS-CoV-2 vaccine boosters in kidney transplant recipients

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
IntroductionThe humoral response after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination and boosters in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) is heterogeneous and depends on immunosuppression status.

Organoids from colorectal peritoneal metastases as a platform for improving hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), Volume 106, Issue 10, Page 1404-1414, September 2019., 2019
Organoid technology was used to create a preclinical model for evaluation of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for peritoneal metastases from colorectal cancer. Current HIPEC regimens were tested and a novel rational treatment combination of mitomycin C with inhibitors of ATR was investigated.

Inhibins regulate peripheral regulatory T cell induction through modulation of dendritic cell function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 9, Issue 1, Page 137-147, January 2019., 2019
Dendritic cells (DCs) play a key role in the induction of peripherally induced regulatory T cells (Tregs) under homeostatic and inflammatory conditions. This study demonstrates that inhibins modulate the induction of Tregs from naïve T cells in the periphery through promoting DC maturation and function.

Cancer Stem Cells from Tumor Cell Lines Activate the DNA Damage Response Pathway after Ionizing Radiation More Efficiently Than Noncancer Stem Cells

open access: yesStem Cells International, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
Recently, a subpopulation of tumor cells, called cancer stem cells (CSC), has been characterized, and these have emerged as a major topic in cancer research. CSC are proposed to repair DNA damage more efficiently than the rest of tumor cells, resisting chemotherapy or radiotherapy and causing clinical recurrence and metastasis.

Engineering Nanocellulose Scaffolds: Property Modification Strategies and Mechanotransduction‐Driven Tissue Outcomes

open access: yesPolymers for Advanced Technologies, Volume 37, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Nanocellulose is being increasingly used in biomedical applications because of its biocompatibility, mechanical robustness, tunable surface chemistry, and adjustable rheology. This review evaluates recent strategies for engineering cellulose nanofibrils, nanocrystals, and bacterial nanocellulose into cell‐instructive scaffolds for skin, bone ...
