Chemical Composition and Synergistic Antimicrobial Effects of Essential Oils From Four Commonly Used Satureja Species in Combination With Two Conventional Antibiotics

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 22, Issue 7, July 2025.
The chemical composition and the in vitro synergistic antimicrobial effects of four Satureja essential oils were investigated. Essential oils from Satureja montana and S. hortensis displayed strong antimicrobial effects, whereas S. calamintha and S. alpina exhibited relatively weaker antimicrobial activity.

Citral a fragrance allergen and irritant

open access: yes, 2003
Citral is a well known contact allergen and a contact irritant. Routine patch testing in the past may have been restricted because of possible irritant (IR) patch test responses.

Performance of ginger grass (Lippia alba) for traits related to the production of essential oil Desempenho da erva-cidreira (Lippia alba) para características relacionadas à produção de óleos essenciais

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2008
Lippia alba (Verbenaceae) is a shrub whose essential oil has important biological, pharmacological, and aromatizing properties. To reach the sustained cultivation of new species with economic potential, the present study aimed to evaluate L.

Better than Random? The Chemotype Enrichment Problem

open access: yes, 2016
Chemotype enrichment is increasingly recognized as an important measure of virtual screening performance. However, little attention has been paid to producing metrics which can quantify chemotype retrieval.

Engineering of Yeast Old Yellow Enzyme OYE3 Enables Its Capability Discriminating of (E)-Citral and (Z)-Citral

open access: yes, 2021
The importance of yeast old yellow enzymes is increasingly recognized for direct asymmetric reduction of (E/Z)-citral to (R)-citronellal. As one of the most performing old yellow enzymes, the enzyme OYE3 from Saccharomyces cerevisiae S288C exhibited ...

Anti-Clastogenic Effects of Citral [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Citral is a major constituent of Cymbopogon citratus   or lemongrass oil. The anti-clastogenic effect of citral (20 mg/kg) was tested against the known mutagens cyclophoshamide, mitomycin-C and nickel metal (NiCl2) in mice.

Evidence mapping of molecular pathways regulating citral biosynthesis and validation status in Cymbopogon spp.

open access: yesDiscover Plants
Citral is the principal monoterpene aldehyde responsible for the characteristic aroma, quality, and industrial value of Cymbopogon species. Despite rapid advances in transcriptomic, metabolomic, and biochemical research, the extent of experimental ...
