Dispersion State Phase Diagram of Citrate-Coated Metallic Nanoparticles in Saline Solutions

open access: yes, 2020
The fundamental interactions underlying citrate-mediated chemical stability of metal nanoparticles (NPs), and their surface characteristics dictating particle dispersion/aggregation in aqueous solutions, are largely unclear.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Renal tissue citrate: independence from citrate utilization, reabsorption, and pH

open access: yes, 1986
During alkalosis in vivo, renal tissue [citrate] [( citrate]t) increases and citrate reabsorption (Tcit) and utilization (Qcit) simultaneously decrease.

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

Hepatic Ketogenesis Induced by Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion in Mice

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2017
BackgroundKetone bodies are known to substitute for glucose as brain fuel when glucose availability is low. Ketogenic diets have been described as neuroprotective. Similar data have been reported for triheptanoin, a fatty oil and anaplerotic compound. In

Acid ion modification in a dialysis fluid

open access: yesВестник трансплантологии и искусственных органов, 2020
Apart from its main electrolytes – sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium – a dialysis fluid (DF) contains a buffer for correction of acidosis. A small amount of acid is added to the DF to prevent calcium and magnesium precipitation.

Magnetic‐Field Control of Surface States in CoFe2O4 Thin Films for Nitrate Electroreduction to Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic‐field‐assisted CVD of heterometallic single‐source precursors modulates thin‐film surface electronic structure and interfacial charge transfer. Field‐grown (Cobalt ferrite‐1T)CF‐1T films exhibit stabilized electronic states, lower kinetic barriers, and markedly enhanced nitrate‐to‐ammonia electrocatalysis versus (Cobalt ferrite‐0T) CF‐0T ...

Blood Biomarkers and Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for Gout: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustrating gout disease progression from asymptomatic hyperuricemia to chronic tophaceous disease, highlighting the limitations of conventional imaging and biochemical diagnostics and the potential of engineered SERS platforms for ultrasensitive blood‐based detection of urate‐related biomarkers across disease stages, with the color gradient

Citrate in urine determined with a new citrate lyase method

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1995
Abstract An enzyme-spectrophotometric method to determine citrate in biological fluids is proposed, based on citrate lyase-catalyzed and phenylhydrazine reactions. The enzyme converts citrate into oxaloacetate, which, in the presence of phenylhydrazine, is transformed into the corresponding phenylhydrazone.
