Lipid and immunophenotypic profiles in hemodialysis patients with citrate vs. acetate dialysates

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
BackgroundChronic kidney disease (CKD) is a significant cardiovascular (CV) risk factor, with dialysis-dependent CKD (DD-CKD) patients facing high mortality rates.

Citrate transport in rabbit nephron

open access: yes, 1986
Citrate is an important renal metabolic substrate and urinary inhibitor of calcium stone formation. Our purpose was to characterize citrate reabsorption in the rabbit nephron using isolated perfused tubules.

Malectin Alleviates Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus via Glycoprotein Quality Control Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Malectin alleviates high glucose‐induced ER stress and damage in placental trophoblasts, a function dependent on its six critical carbohydrate‐binding residues. In a GDM mouse model, administration of TAT‐Malectin ameliorated hyperglycemia and placental ER stress and prevented fetal macrosomia.

Bicarbonate and Citrate

open access: yes, 2008
The article offers information on bicarbonate and citrate supplementation. It reveals that bicarbonate and citrate loading increases the extracellular buffering capacity of the muscles and their ability to dispose excess hydrogen ions.

Targeting UXS1‐Dependent Glucuronate Detoxification Potentiates Metformin's Anti‐Tumor Efficacy in Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that metformin promotes glucuronic acid metabolism in lung adenocarcinoma by activating UGDH S476 phosphorylation and enhancing the conversion of UDPG to UDPGA based on metabolomics analysis. Through compound virtual screening, it is found that plantainoside targeting UGDH downstream UXS1 leads to UDPGA toxicity accumulation ...

Blood acid-base buffering: Explanation of the effectiveness of bicarbonateand citrate ingestion

open access: yes, 2002
There exists confusion in the exercise and sports science community over the function and capacity of the bicarbonate (HCO3- buffer system, as well as the mechanism of action of citrate ingestion for raising blood bicarbonate and pH.

Trisodium citrate dihydrate

open access: yes, 2003
From a solution containing uranyl nitrate and sodium citrate, single crystals of trisodium citrate dihydrate, 3Na(+).C6H5O73-.-2H(2)O, were obtained. The structure consists of a complex network of citrate and sodium ions.

GATA4‐Driven Transcription of HtrA1 Promotes Cellular Senescence in Ménière's Disease and Age‐Related Audio‐Vestibular Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the HDAC6/GATA4/HtrA1 axis as a critical driver of cellular senescence in the inner ear. GATA4 nuclear translocation, facilitated by HDAC6 downregulation, transcriptionally activates HtrA1, promoting hair cell senescence, SASP, and audio‐vestibular dysfunction in models of Ménière's disease and age‐related audio‐vestibular ...

Acute and chronic peritonitis in peritoneal dialysis: neurogenic inflammation and citrate treatment

open access: yes, 2009
The prevalent problems associated with peritoneal dialysis (PD) are ultrafiltration failure and peritonitis. During PD the patient is sustained on a state of intraperitoneal inflammation, which over time impairs structure, and function of the peritoneal ...
