On the surface effects of citrates on nano-apatites: evidence of a decreased hydrophilicity

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The surface structure and hydrophilicity of synthetic nanocrystalline apatite with strongly bound citrates on their surface are here investigated at the molecular level, by combining advanced IR spectroscopy, microgravimetry and adsorption ...

Applying Regional Citrate Anticoagulation in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy for Acute Kidney Injury Patients with Acute Liver Dysfunction: a Retrospective Observational Study

open access: yesKidney & Blood Pressure Research, 2018
Background/Aims: Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is a treatment for acute kidney injury (AKI) patients. It has become a controversy about whether patients with liver dysfunction should perform CRRT with regional citrate anticoagulation (RCA).

Determining the effect of cadmium on embryogenesis in isolated administration and in combination with selenium and germanium citrates.

open access: yesMedičnì Perspektivi, 2020
Cadmium compounds found in biological systems form the ecological crisis of the planet. An urgent task for researchers is to determine the morphological changes that occur in the body under the action of cadmium compounds in both prenatal and postnatal ...

Trisilver(I) citrate [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2011
Trisilver(I) citrate, 3Ag(+)·C(6)H(5)O(7) (3-), was obtained by evaporation of a saturated aqueous solution of the raw material that had been obtained from sodium dihydrogen citrate and silver nitrate. It features one formula unit in the asymmetric unit.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Effects of Fe doping in La1/2Ca1/2MnO3

open access: yes, 2000
The effect of Fe doping in the Mn site on the magnetic, transport and structural properties of polycrystalline La1/2Ca1/2MnO3 was studied. Doping with low Fe concentration (< 10%) strongly affects electrical transport and magnetization. Long range charge

Development of Sustainable MgO–C Refractories Using MgO–C Recyclates and a Novel Eco‐Friendly Fructose–Tannin Binder Crosslinked With Citric Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion

Lipid Nanoparticles for the Delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 Machinery to Enable Site‐Specific Integration of CFTR and Mutation‐Agnostic Disease Rescue

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are optimized to co‐deliver Cas9‐encoding messenger RNA (mRNA), a single guide RNA (sgRNA) targeting the endogenous cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene, and homologous linear double‐stranded donor DNA (ldsDNA) templates encoding CFTR.

Unleashing the Power of Machine Learning in Nanomedicine Formulation Development

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A random forest machine learning model is able to make predictions on nanoparticle attributes of different nanomedicines (i.e. lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, or PLGA nanoparticles) based on microfluidic formulation parameters. Machine learning models are based on a database of nanoparticle formulations, and models are able to generate unique solutions
