Nephrolithiasis is a multisystem disease arising from the sin- ergic effects of enviromental, hormonal and genetic factors. In Europe an incidence of 2000 stones per million of population has been reported. Kidney stones are mainly composed of calcium (70-80%) with a predominance of calcium oxalate, with or without calcium phosphate.
