Phyllosticta citricarpa and sister species of global importance to Citrus
Summary Several Phyllosticta species are known as pathogens of Citrus spp., and are responsible for various disease symptoms including leaf and fruit spots. One of the most important species is P. citricarpa, which causes a foliar and fruit disease called citrus black spot.

Pest categorisation of Elsinoë fawcettii and E. australis
Abstract The Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of Elsinoë fawcettii and E. australis, the causal agents of citrus scab diseases, for the EU. The identities of the pests are well‐established and reliable methods exist for their detection/identification. The pests are listed in Annex IIAI of Directive 2000/29/EC as Elsinoë spp.

Proteomics of Plant Pathogenic Fungi
Plant pathogenic fungi cause important yield losses in crops. In order to develop efficient and environmental friendly crop protection strategies, molecular studies of the fungal biological cycle, virulence factors, and interaction with its host are necessary.

A series of experiments were conducted to clarify the reason why the invading hyphae of Diaporthe citri (Faw.) Wolf is arrested and killed in melanose spot. After a melanose spot on citrus leaf was formed, pycnospore suspension of D. citri with 2% fructose was inoculated onto the melanose spot.

Citrus Diseases Exotic to Florida: Citrus Tristeza Virus– Stem Pitting (CTV-SP)
Citrus is susceptible to a large number of diseases caused by plant pathogens. Economic losses due to plant diseases can be severe, but fortunately, not all pathogens attacking citrus are present in Florida.

Evaluation of Postinfection Control of Citrus Scab and Melanose with Benomyl, Fenbuconazole, and Azoxystrobin [PDF]
Citrus scab, caused by Elsinoe fawcettii, and melanose, caused by Diaporthe citri, are serious diseases of citrus in Florida that reduce the exterior quality of fruits produced for the fresh market. The availability of fungicides with postinfection activity could increase the flexibility of growers in managing these diseases.
