Infrared spectroscopy: A potential tool in huanglongbing and citrus variegated chlorosis diagnosis

Talanta, 2012
Huanglongbing (HLB) and citrus variegated chlorosis (CVC) are serious threats to citrus production and have caused considerable economic losses worldwide, especially in Brazil, which is one of the biggest citrus producers in the world. Neither disease has a cure nor an efficient means of control.

Assessment of the diagnostic potential of Immmunocapture-PCR and Immuno-PCR for Citrus Variegated Chlorosis

Journal of Microbiological Methods, 2008
Xylella fastidiosa causes significant losses in many economically important crops. An efficient pathogen detection system is critical for epidemiology studies, particularly when large sample size is involved. In this study we report the development of immunomolecular assays like Immmunocapture-PCR and Immuno-PCR for direct detection of X.

Gas exchanges and carbohydrate metabolism in orangetrees with citrus variegated chlorosis [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Plant Physiology, 2003
Gas exchanges, sucrose, starch and reducing sugar contents were analyzed in leaves of orange trees with and without Citrus Variegated Chlorosis (CVC), a disease caused by the bacteria Xylella fastidiosa. Healthy plants (HP) and diseased plants (DP) were evaluated 20 and 26 months after bacterial inoculation, in October 1998 and April 1999, respectively.

Inoculum reduction and vector control on the temporal progress of citrus variegated chlorosis incidence

Pest Management Science, 2021
AbstractBACKGROUNDCitrus variegated chlorosis (CVC) is an important citrus disease caused by the sharpshooter‐transmitted bacterium Xylella fastidiosa subsp. pauca. Information about the efficacy of its disease management is bounded to either inoculum reduction or vector control.

Citrus Variegated Chlorosis: an Overview of 30 Years of Research and Disease Management

Tropical Plant Pathology, 2020
The emergence of citrus variegated chlorosis (CVC) disease had dramatic consequences to the citrus industry in Brazil. First reported in Sao Paulo State in 1987, this disease affected approximately 100 million sweet orange trees in the region 20 years later.

Distribution of Xylella fastidiosa in Citrus Rootstocks and Transmission of Citrus Variegated Chlorosis Between Sweet Orange Plants Through Natural Root Grafts

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2000
To study translocation of Xylella fastidiosa to citrus rootstocks, budsticks from citrus variegated chlorosis (CVC)-affected cv. Pera sweet orange (Citrus sinenesis (L.) Osb.) were top grafted on 15 citrus rootstocks.

The effect of irrigation on development of citrus variegated chlorosis symptoms

Crop Protection, 2014
Abstract The incidence and severity of citrus variegated chlorosis (CVC) caused by Xylella fastidiosa are higher in the northern region of Sao Paulo, Brazil than in the southern region. This phenomenon is partly due to differences in the climate, especially rainfall, as the northern region tends to be drier than the southern region. The progress of

RAPD profile and antibiotic susceptibility of Xylella fastidiosa, causal agent of citrus variegated chlorosis

Letters in Applied Microbiology, 2001
The aim of this study was to evaluate the diversity of Xylella fastidiosa isolated from citrus trees affected by Citrus Variegated Chlorosis (CVC).The antibiotic susceptibility by agar disc diffusion and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) methods was observed for all drug evaluated, except for penicillin-G.

Navelina ISA 315: A cultivar resistant to citrus variegated chlorosis

Crop Protection, 2014
Citrus variegated chlorosis (CVC), caused by Xylella fastidiosa, is a bacterial disease of great importance to the Brazilian citrus industry. CVC is transmitted by grafting and by leafhoppers of the Cicadellidae and Cercopidae families. There is little information about CVC tolerant sweet orange cultivars (Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck).

Insertional Transposon Mutagenesis in the Xylella fastidiosa Citrus Variegated Chlorosis Strain with Transposome

Current Microbiology, 2004
To overcome the difficulty in obtaining mutants of the citrus strains of Xylella fastidiosa, we evaluated mutagenesis using the transposome system as a tool for the isolation of a large number of mutants. Electroporation of a commercial transposome system in X.
