Dual Nickel/Photoredox‐Catalyzed Regio‐ and Enantioselective Alkenylation of Epoxides

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ni/photoredox‐catalyzed stereoconvergent cross‐electrophile coupling of racemic epoxides with alkenyl bromides is described, affording β‐alkenyl products with up to 95% ee, excellent E‐selectivity, and complete regiocontrol. These versatile intermediates enable diverse chiral synthons; mechanistic studies suggest a halide ring‐opening followed by ...

Surface Neuronal‐Like Structuring of High‐Strength CFRP for Enhanced Electromagnetic Interference Shielding

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates the microstructural evolution at the material interface of Ni‐plated plain‐weave carbon fiber fabric following vacuum heat treatment at 500°C–900°C under different current densities, as well as the mechanism underlying the synergistic enhancement of electromagnetic shielding and ductility.

Neither sacred nor profane: the permitted content of civil marriage ceremonies

open access: yes, 2018
Most weddings celebrated in England and Wales now take place in civil ceremonies. While the governing legislation and regulations specify that the proceedings may not be ‘religious in nature’, guidance issued by the Registrar General indicates that incidental religious references may be included.

Atmospheric Water Harvesting Through Polymer Hydrogel Sorbents: Materials Chemistry, Design Strategies, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polymer‐based hydrogels have emerged as promising materials for atmospheric water harvesting (AWH) due to their high water affinity, tunable network structure, and excellent moisture adsorption‐desorption performance. Functional hydrogel systems enable efficient water capture and controlled release under low‐energy conditions, offering a sustainable ...

Atomistic Kinetics of Dislocation‐Mediated Grain Growth in Monolayer MoS2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Atomic‐resolution in‐situ heating microscopy directly visualizes dislocation‐mediated grain boundary migration and grain growth in monolayer MoS2. Mobile grain boundaries migrate through collective motion of Mo 5|7 dislocations, whereas S 5|7 defects remain largely immobile.

MXene‐Based Room‐Temperature NO2 Gas Sensors: A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents the first comprehensive meta‐analysis of MXene‐based NO2 sensors, decoding 32 study characteristics across 61 peer‐reviewed studies. By isolating materials chemistry as the primary performance driver over device‐level parameters, the authors establish a methodological blueprint and a predictive structure–function map to accelerate ...

Marriage as a Contract, Covenant and Sacrament: Integrating Civil, Customary and Canonical Ceremony

open access: yes
Marriage stands at the intersection of law, culture, and theology as one of humanity’s most enduring institutions. Across civilizations, it has been variously understood as a legal contract regulating rights and obligations, a covenant binding parties, families, communities, and within Christian thought, a sacrament embodying divine grace.

High‐Throughput Screening for Accelerated Oxide Glass Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A high‐throughput screening platform is presented that allows for accelerating laboratory glass synthesis by a factor of 102, using multicomponent stereolithographic printing. Automatic sample evaluation is achieved via Raman spectroscopy and similarity analysis without any sample preparation.
