K e3 decays and CKM unitarity [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal C, 2004
We present a detailed numerical study of the K_{e3} decays to O(p^6,(m_d-m_u)p^2,e^2p^2) in chiral perturbation theory with virtual photons and leptons. We describe the extraction of the CKM matrix element |V_{us}| from the experimental K_{e3} decay parameters. We propose a consistency check of the K^+_{e3} and K^0_{e3} data that is largely insensitive

Associations of Physical Activity With Mortality Across Cardiovascular–Kidney–Metabolic Syndrome Stages: Evidence From NHANES 1999 to 2018

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Cardiovascular–kidney–metabolic (CKM) syndrome integrates cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic dysfunction and is associated with high mortality. Stage‐stratified evidence linking physical activity (PA) to mortality remains limited. Methods We

Associations of Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Syndrome with Premature Mortality and Life Expectancies in US Adults: A Cohort Study

open access: yesCardiorenal Medicine
Background: The American Heart Association has recently updated the Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic (CKM) Health Advisory, proposing a new framework for defining, staging, and predicting CKM risk. However, the prevalence and adverse effects of

Survival of Older Adults Choosing Dialysis or Conservative Kidney Management, Stratified by Suitability for Dialysis

open access: yesKidney Medicine
Rationale & Objective: Previous studies indicate survival benefit for dialysis over conservative kidney management (CKM), which attenuates in patients ≥80 years or with high comorbidity.

Flavor physics in the quark sector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In the past decade, one of the major challenges of particle physics has been to gain an in-depth understanding of the role of quark flavor. In this time frame, measurements and the theoretical interpretation of their results have advanced tremendously. A

Association between cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic health metrics and long-term cardiovascular risk: Findings from the Chinese Multi-provincial Cohort Study

open access: yesChinese Medical Journal
. Background:. The American Heart Association (AHA) introduced the concept of cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) health and stage, reflecting the interaction among metabolism, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and the cardiovascular system.

CKM and PMNS mixing matrix from $SO(2)$ flavor symmetry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The relation between quark masses and CKM mixing is studied based on an approximate chiral $SO(2)_L\times SO(2)_R$ flavor symmetry of quark mass matrix.

A national study of practice patterns in UK renal units in the use of dialysis and conservative kidney management to treat people aged 75 years and over with chronic kidney failure

open access: yesHealth Services and Delivery Research, 2015
Background: Conservative kidney management (CKM) is recognised as an alternative to dialysis for a significant number of older adults with multimorbid stage 5 chronic kidney disease (CKD5).

Latest results from NA48 and NA48/1. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The first observations of the rare decays KS ! 0e+e− and KS ! 0μ+μ− have been made by the NA48/1 collaboration at the CERN SPS accelerator. From high intensity KS data collected during the 2002 run, clean signals of 7 KS ! 0e+e− events and 6 KS !

Osteoarthritis as a clinical marker of cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic multimorbidity: a population-based cohort study in China

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
BackgroundCardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) multimorbidity is increasingly recognized as a major global health concern. Although osteoarthritis (OA) is traditionally viewed as a degenerative joint condition, recent evidence suggests it may reflect ...
