Chromium Salt: A Review of Salt Formation, Hygroscopic Properties, and Impact on 316 L Corrosion in Hydrochloric Acid

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
This article examines the impact of externally introduced chromium compounds on the localized corrosion of 316 L stainless steel in acidic chloride environments such as hydrochloric acid. While the corrosion resistance of 316 L relies on the formation of a chromium‐rich passive oxide layer, industrial conditions may expose the steel to various chromium

Study for Laser Cladding of Ni60A on Copper Substrate by Laser

open access: yes, 2008
The Ni60A powder was clad on the copper by the laser through coaxial power feeding. The hardness and erosion resistance of the substrate and the cladding layer were measured and made contrasts. The morphology and the microstructures of the cladding layer

The effect of powder recycling in direct metal laser deposition on powder and manufactured part characteristics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A potential way of improving the material efficiency and cost effectiveness of the Direct Metal Laser Deposition (DMLD) process is to take powder that is not utilised in each deposition attempt and re-use it in subsequent attempts (powder recycling ...

Nutritional properties, traditional uses and potential new applications for the sotol plant (Asparagaceae, Convallarioideae): A review

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Sotol (Dasylirion spp.) is a resilient desert plant that sustains ecosystems, cultures and livelihoods in Chihuahua Desert. Our review highlights its nutritional properties, traditional uses and potential new applications in food, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy and water remediation. By synthesizing evidence across disciplines, we show how sotol can

Unlocking Nanoscale Microstructural Detail in Aluminum Alloys Through Differential Phase Contrast Segmentation in STEM

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Differential phase contrast (DPC) imaging in STEM is demonstrated as a rapid, versatile segmentation tool for advanced aluminum alloys. Decomposition of false‐color DPC micrographs resolves nanoclusters, precipitate variants, dislocation strain fields, nanostructures, and grain boundaries ‐ all within a single and fast acquisition.

Behaviour and design of profiled steel cladding systems subject to pull-through failures

open access: yes, 2003
The common profiled steel cladding systems used in Australia and its neighboring countries are made of very thin (0.42 mm) high strength steel (G550 with a minimum yield stress of 550 MPa) and are crest-fixed.
