Convergent Evolution of Endosymbiont Differentiation in Dalbergioid and Inverted Repeat-Lacking Clade Legumes Mediated by Nodule-Specific Cysteine-Rich Peptides1

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2015
Several species from an ancient legume lineage independently evolved a novel class of cysteine-rich peptides to impose a differentiation process on their endosymbionts.

Cytogenetics of Legumes in the Phaseoloid Clade

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, 2013
Cytogenetics played an essential role in studies of chromosome structure, behavior, and evolution in numerous plant species. The advent of molecular cytogenetics combined with recent development of genomic resources has ushered in a new era of chromosome studies that have greatly advanced our knowledge of karyotypic diversity, genome and chromosome ...

The minimal observable clade size of exchangeable coalescents [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
For $\Lambda$-$n$-coalescents with mutation, we analyse the size $O_n$ of the partition block of $i\in\{1,\ldots,n\}$ at the time where the first mutation appears on the tree that affects $i$ and is shared with any other $j\in\{1,\ldots,n\}$. We provide asymptotics of $O_n$ for $n\to\infty$ and a recursion for all moments of $O_n$ for finite $n$.

Trading Capsule for Increased Cytotoxin Production: Contribution to Virulence of a Newly Emerged Clade of emm89 Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesmBio, 2015
Strains of emm89 Streptococcus pyogenes have become one of the major causes of invasive infections worldwide in the last 10 years. We recently sequenced the genome of 1,125 emm89 strains and identified three major phylogenetic groups, designated clade 1,

Genomic and phenotypic studies among Clostridioides difficile isolates show a high prevalence of clade 2 and great diversity in clinical isolates from Mexican adults and children with healthcare-associated diarrhea

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Clostridioides difficile (C. difficile) is widely distributed in the intestinal tract of humans, animals, and in the environment. It is the most common cause of diarrhea associated with the use of antimicrobials in humans and among the most common ...
