Accurate species identification is critical for conserving endangered Firmiana trees in China. However, morphological similarities among closely related Firmiana species complicate its taxonomic identification. We conducted genome skimming on 62 samples representing all 10 Chinese species and discovered nrITS as the optimal DNA barcode, achieving 100 ...

Surface water as a source of rare Salmonella enterica serovars in semiarid northeastern Brazil
Abstract Salmonella enterica remains a major foodborne pathogen globally but little attention has been paid to infrequent serovars in environmental settings. We report the occurrence of 30 rare S. enterica serovars isolated from environmental water sources between 2021 and 2022 in semiarid northeastern Brazil.

Effect of Body Configuration on Perturbation Resistance Across Arboreal Lizard Species
ABSTRACT Animals that inhabit high‐risk habitats often exhibit morphological and behavioral adaptations to contend with environmental challenges. In arboreal (tree‐based) habitats, such adaptations can include corrective behaviors, such as modification of body‐limb angles, to avoid dislodgement by perturbations.
