Homo luzonensis and the role of homoplasy in the morphology of hominin insular species. [PDF]
Abstract Homo luzonensis lived during the upper Pleistocene in the northern Philippines, east of the Wallace line. The few specimens attributed to this species show a mosaic of plesiomorphies for the genus Homo and apomorphies found in upper Pleistocene Homo species.

African harps as units of cultural evolution: a cladistic analysis on their morphology [PDF]
In Africa, harps exhibit significant morphological diversity, yet their historical trajectory remains largely underexplored. Phylogenetic reconstruction methods offer valuable tools for understanding this diversity and the relationships between groups of

Using cladistic phylogenies (cladograms) to evaluate stratigraphy (taxon distributions and correlations) necessitates various assumptions that include all of the assumptions built into the cladogram, assuming the cladogram is “correct” and that new taxa ...

Oceanic islands are known by their unique evolutionary histories and high endemicity caused by isolation. This is the first survey on the biodiversity of Peracarida from Trindade Island, a volcanic island located about 1,160 km off the Brazilian coast ...

Menzerath–Altmann’s Law of Syntax in RNA Accretion History
RNA evolves by adding substructural parts to growing molecules. Molecular accretion history can be dissected with phylogenetic methods that exploit structural and functional evidence.

Cladistic analyses will be inaccurate if based on inaccurate data. Most blastozoan taxa were defined before cladistics was proposed. Redescription of precladistic taxa should be a priority.

Multiple optimality criteria support Ornithoscelida [PDF]
A recent study of early dinosaur evolution using equal-weights parsimony recovered a scheme of dinosaur interrelationships and classification that differed from historical consensus in a single, but significant, respect; Ornithischia and Saurischia were ...
