Diurnal Changes of Zooplankton Community Reduction Rate at Lake Outlets and Related Environmental Factors. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
The reduced zooplankton abundance at the outlet sections of lakes depends on the occurrence of preying fry. Therefore, light conditions can play a major role in the drift of zooplankton along river outlets.

New cladoceran records from Lake Paranoá, Central Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology, 2004
The zooplanktonic community of Lake Paranoá has been studied for more than thirty years. Until 1998, when it was considered eutrophic, only three cladoceran species were known from the reservoir. Since 1999, when Lake Paranoá underwent intentional flushing, definite changes in species diversity and composition were identified.

Combined toxic effects of nitrite and ammonia on life history traits of Daphnia pulex

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2022
Nitrite and ammonia are two of the most common toxic nitrogenous pollutants in aquatic ecosystem, which can pose a serious threat to the health of aquatic organisms.

Seasonal changes in the distribution and abundance of marine cladocerans of the Northwest Alboran Sea (Western Mediterranean), Spain

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2011
The annual cycle of marine cladocerans was studied over six years from 1994 to 1999 within the frame of the monitoring Project ECOMALAGA at a nine stations in the NW of the Alboran Sea, with the aim of assessing seasonal patterns and interannual trends ...

Selective Consumption of Pelagic Cladocerans by Bluegill Sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus Rafinesque) Contributes to Dominance of Epiphytic Cladocerans

open access: yesWater, 2022
Fish predation is restricted in areas with high aquatic macrophyte coverage; however, bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus), an exotic fish species, can consume prey even in such spaces. Here, we hypothesized that the cladoceran community structures in three wetlands (Upo, Jangcheok, and Beongae) with abundant macrophytes within the Nakdong River ...

A long-term study on crustacean plankton of a shallow tropical lake: the role of invertebrate predation

open access: yesJournal of Limnology, 2015
The primary factor that governs the size and species composition of zooplankton is still a controversial issue and temperature is considered the main factor responsible for latitudinal differences.

Feeding selectivity of brown trout (Salmo trutta) in Loch Ness, Scotland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The aim of this study was to compare statistically the zooplankton assemblage ingested by brown trout (Salmo trutta) in Loch Ness with that of the zooplankton in the water column.
