Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Modeling of Hydro-Pneumatic Energy Storage Using Pump Turbines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Modelling of a hydro-pneumatic energy storage system is presented in this paper. Hydro pneumatic storage aims to combine the good efficiency of hydraulic energy conversion and the space flexibility of pneumatic storage.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Supervised Machine Learning-Based Prediction of Hydrogen Storage Classes Utilizing Dibenzyltoluene as an Organic Carrier

open access: yesMolecules
Dibenzyltoluene (H0-DBT), a Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC), presents an attractive solution for hydrogen storage due to its enhanced safety and ability to store hydrogen in a concentrated liquid form.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Estimates of forest biomass carbon storage inLiaoning Province of Northeast China: a review and assessment.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Accurate estimates of forest carbon storage and changes in storage capacity are critical for scientific assessment of the effects of forest management on the role of forests as carbon sinks. Up to now, several studies reported forest biomass carbon (FBC)

THE CONDITIONS OF THE ROAD TRANSPORT AND STORAGE OF ORGANIC PEROXIDES IN THE CASE OF BENZOYL PEROXIDE [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Journal of Silesian University of Technology. Series Transport, 2017
Organic peroxides are materials that belong to one of the 13 classes of dangerous goods, i.e., class 5.2. They are characterized by specific hazards and, due to that fact, require strictly determined conditions of storage and transport.

AscF in the mycobacterial CIII–CIV supercomplex lacks metal and nucleotide binding but links malate oxidation to respiration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The mycobacterial CIII‐CIV respiratory supercomplex is an obligate assembly, encompassing several subunits of unknown functions. We have characterized the intracellular subunit AscF, and show that it is unlikely to be a sensor for metals or nucleotides, but is required for growth on nonfermentable energy sources, and likely works as an adapter for ...

The costs of convenience: unpacking the self-storage industry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
: Increasing numbers of self-storage facilities on the urban landscape is illustrative of a culture of excessive consumption, underpinned by conventions such as ‘more is better’.

Coding Techniques for Data-Storage Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
As information-bearing objects, data-storage systems are natural consumers of information-theoretic ideas. For many issues in data-storage systems, the best trade-off between cost, performance and reliability, passes through the application of error ...
