On a new construction in group theory

open access: yes, 2011
PhDMy supervisors Ian Chiswell and Thomas M¨uller have found a new class of groups of functions defined on intervals of the real line, with multiplication defined by analogy with multiplication in free groups.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Invariant part of class groups and distribution of relative class group

open access: yesJournal of Number Theory
We generalize the work of Roquette and Zassenhaus on the invariant part of the class groups to the relative class groups. Thereby, we can show some statistical results as follows. For abelian extensions over a fixed number field K, we show infinite Cp-moments for the Sylow p-subgroup of the relative class group when p divides the degree of the ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Class, Individualisation and Perceived (Dis)advantages: Not Either/Or but Both/And? [PDF]

open access: yes
One of the core contentions of individualisation is that the residents of contemporary Western nations are no longer willing or able to perceive the motors of their life paths as external, social forces such as \'class\' or material resources and instead

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

FROM MAPPING CLASS GROUPS TO AUTOMORPHISM GROUPS OF FREE GROUPS

open access: yes, 2005
It is shown that the natural map from the mapping class groups of surfaces to the automorphism groups of free groups induces an infinite loop map on the classifying spaces of the stable groups after plus construction. The proof uses automorphisms of free
