A Class of Staggered Schemes for the Compressible Euler Equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We present a class of numerical schemes for the solution of the Euler equations; these schemes are based on staggered discretizations and work either on structured meshes or on general simplicial or tetrahedral/hexahedral meshes. The time discretization is performed by fractional-step algorithms, either based on semi-implicit pressure correction ...

Emergency traffic adaptive MAC protocol for wireless body area networks based on prioritization.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
This paper proposes an emergency Traffic Adaptive MAC (eTA-MAC) protocol for WBANs based on Prioritization. The main advantage of the protocol is to provide traffic ranking through a Traffic Class Prioritization-based slotted-Carrier Sense Multiple ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

An iterative scheme for a class of generalized Sylvester matrix equations [PDF]

open access: yesAUT Journal of Mathematics and Computing
In this study based on the accelerated over relaxation (AOR) method we make an iterative scheme for solving generalized Lyapunov matrix equation$$ {A}{X}+{X}{B}+\sum_{j=1}^{m}{N}_j{X}{M}_j={C},$$over complex or real matrices.

Quantum Computing with Rotation-Symmetric Bosonic Codes

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2020
Bosonic rotation codes, introduced here, are a broad class of bosonic error-correcting codes based on phase-space rotation symmetry. We present a universal quantum computing scheme applicable to a subset of this class—number-phase codes—which includes ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Exploring sources of ice crystals in cirrus clouds: comparative analysis of two ice nucleation schemes in CAM6 [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics
Ice crystal formation in cirrus clouds is poorly understood, and its representation remains a challenge in global climate models. To enhance the understanding, a novel ice nucleation parameterization based on the Kärcher (2022) (K22) scheme is introduced
