Cultural evolution and prosociality: widening the hypothesis space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Norenzayan and colleagues suggest that Big Gods can be replaced by Big Governments. We examine forms of social and self-monitoring and ritual practice that emerged in Classical China, heterarchical societies like those that emerged in pre-Columbian ...

Purpose‐Adaptable Reinforced 3D Hyaluronic‐Acid Based Platform to Study Pathomechanisms of the Central Nervous System

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Platform system to create biofabricated 3D spinal cord tissue models: Combining high resolution PCL fiber placement, a customized, hyaluronic acid‐based hydrogel, two cell types (spinal cord neurons and astrocytes) together with three distinct laminin isoforms allow the formation of functional cell–cell network interactions.

A Data Driven Review of In Vitro Electrical and Mechanical Stimulation for Post‐Acute Phase Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how in vitro electrical and mechanical stimulation modulates wound healing in fibroblasts and keratinocytes. Analyzing over 560 experimental data points, we relate stimulation parameters to proliferation and migration outcomes, evaluate platform designs, and highlight the need for multi‐parameter optimization to advance targeted ...

Yet Another Puzzle of Ground [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We show that any predicational theory of partial ground that extends a standard theory of syntax and that proves some commonly accepted principles for partial ground is inconsistent.

The Constant Comparative Method of Qualitative Analysis

open access: yesGrounded Theory Review: An International Journal, 2008
Currently, the general approaches to the analysis of qualitative data are these:1.) If the analyst wishes to convert qualitative data into crudely quantifiable form so that he can provisionally test a hypothesis, he codes the data first and then analyzes

Counterintuitive Fluorescence Blue Shift in Symmetry Breaking Dicationic Bis(indolium) with Two‐Photon Absorption Properties for NIR Living Cell Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Highly water‐soluble dicationic bis(indolium) dyes have been prepared, showing excellent two‐photon absorption and light emission. Their fluorescence behavior discloses an unusual increasing blue shift with increasing solvent polarity, which, in parallel, is beneficial for enhanced detection in biological media.

The Rationale for the Use of Classic GT

open access: yesGrounded Theory Review: An International Journal, 2008
Two “hallmarks” explain why and how Glaser’s GT method is one of a kind and meaningless for research that is conventionally pre-framed: (I) The finding of the core variable is the first stage of the research and it is accomplished by the systematic ...
