Accretion Disks Around Young Objects. II. Tests of Well-Mixed Models with Ism Dust [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We construct detailed vertical structure models of irradiated accretion disks around T Tauri stars with interstellar medium dust uniformly mixed with gas. The dependence of the structure and emission properties on mass accretion rate, viscosity parameter,

Ethical mediation: Navigating research ethics and frictions in overseas fieldwork

open access: yesArea, Volume 57, Issue 4, December 2025.
Short Abstract This paper problematises the application of UK‐based research ethics policy for overseas fieldwork. It draws on the fieldwork experiences of two researchers affiliated with UK universities and conducting fieldwork overseas in their home country.

Observational Constraints on the Formation and Evolution of Binary Stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present a high spatial resolution UV to NIR survey of 44 young binary stars in Taurus with separations of 10-1000 AU. The primary results include: (1) The relative ages of binary star components are more similar than the relative ages of randomly ...

XMM-Newton X-ray spectroscopy of classical T Tauri stars [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2006
We present results from a comparative study of XMM-Newton observations of four classical T Tauri stars (CTTS), namely BP Tau, CR Cha, SU Aur and TW Hya. In these objects coronal, i.e. magnetic, activity and as recently shown, magnetically funneled accretion are the processes likely to be responsible for the generation of X-ray emission.

COSMOPOLITAN PHILOLOGY AND SACRED GRAMMAR

open access: yesHistory and Theory, Volume 64, Issue 4, Page 109-126, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Persian developed a formal grammatical tradition comparatively late in its thousand‐year history as a lingua franca. This article takes up the emergence of Persian grammar within the larger trajectory of Persian philology. It explores questions about why and when such a tradition developed in Persian by closely analyzing the earliest formal ...

The magnetosphere of the close accreting PMS binary V4046 Sgr

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2014
V4046 Sagittarii AB is a close short-period classical T Tauri binary. It is a circularised and synchronised system accreting from a circumbinary disk.

Coronal structure of the classical T Tauri star V2129 Oph [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2008
The nature of the magnetic coupling between T Tauri stars and their discs determines not only the mass accretion process but possibly the spin evolution of the central star. We have taken a recently published surface magnetogram of one moderately accreting T Tauri star (V2129 Oph) and used it to extrapolate the geometry of its large-scale field.

Assessment of genetically modified oilseed rape LBFLFK (application EFSA‐GMO‐DE‐2019‐157)

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract Application EFSA‐GMO‐DE‐2019‐157 (oilseed rape LBFLFK) was submitted to EFSA to be risk assessed as full‐scope, i.e. for import, processing, and food and feed uses, within the EU. Oilseed rape LBFLFK was developed to alter its fatty acid profile and to confer tolerance to imidazolinone herbicides.

Role of local absorption on the X-ray emission from MHD accretion shocks in classical T Tauri stars

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2014
Accretion processes onto classical T Tauri stars (CTTSs) are believed to generate shocks at the stellar surface due to the impact of supersonic downflowing plasma.

Infrared study of the eta Chamaeleontis cluster and the longevity of circumstellar discs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We have analyzed JHKL observations of the stellar population of the ~9 Myr-old eta Chamaeleontis cluster. Using infrared (IR) colour-colour and colour-excess diagrams, we find the fraction of stellar systems with near-IR excess emission is 0.60 pm 0.13 ...
