Fast transition between Classical and Weak lined T Tauri stars due to external UV dissipation

open access: yes, 2007
The discovery of optical jets immersed in the strong UV radiation field of the Rosette Nebula sheds new light on, but meanwhile poses challenges to, the study of externally irradiated jets. The jet systems in the Rosette are found to have a high state of

Rotation in NGC 2264: a study based on CoRoT photometric observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Rotation is one of the key stellar parameters which undergo substantial evolution during the stellar lifetime, in particular during the early stages.

Measuring the Magnetic Field on the Classical T Tauri Star BP Tauri [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1999
We examine several theories that describe how stellar magnetic fields on classical T Tauri stars (CTTSs) interact with their surrounding accretion disks. We demonstrate that these theories require magnetic field strengths ranging from a few hundred to several thousand gauss, depending on which model is used and more importantly on the properties of ...

Haunting the Historiography of Slaves in South Asia from the nineteenth century to the present

open access: yesGender &History, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Using both English and Urdu‐language records, this article traces the career of a few African and Afro‐Asian women slaves in the household‐state of Awadh during the first half of the nineteenth century. Focusing on the same records, this article compares a master‐poet's recognition of the motherhood of the African and Afro‐Asian slaves to the ...

A Predicted Great Dimming of T Tauri: Has it Begun?

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
The optical star in the T Tauri triple system is the prototype of young Sun-like stars in our galaxy. This complex and dynamic system has evidence for misaligned disks and outflows, and molecular material in a circumbinary ring that obscures the southern

Mass Accretion, Spectral, and Photometric Properties of T Tauri Stars in Taurus Based on TESS and LAMOST

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
We present the analysis of 16 classical T Tauri stars (CTTSs) using LAMOST and TESS data, investigating spectral properties, photometric variations, and mass accretion rates.

MBM 12: young protoplanetary discs at high galactic latitude

open access: yes, 2009
(abridged) We present Spitzer infrared observations to constrain disc and dust evolution in young T Tauri stars in MBM 12, a star-forming cloud at high latitude with an age of 2 Myr and a distance of 275 pc.

Spectacle and Spy Stories: The 1954 Royal Commission on Espionage

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Politics &History, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Menzies government's 1954 royal commission, established to investigate Soviet espionage in Australia, is well known as the backdrop to the Labor Party split. It saw opposition leader H.V. Evatt's demise and ushered in an almost 20‐year period of Liberal Party governance.

XMM-Newton observations of the sigma Ori cluster. II. Spatial and spectral analysis of the full EPIC field

open access: yes, 2005
We present the results of an XMM-Newton observation of the young (~2-4 Myr) cluster around the hot star sigma Orionis. In a previous paper we presented the analysis of the RGS spectrum of the central hot star; here we discuss the results of the analysis ...

A Jet Associated with the Classical T Tauri Star RY Tauri

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2008
High spatial resolution images have been taken on the Gemini North telescope of the classical T Tauri star RY Tauri. The Hα image, with the continuum properly subtracted, shows a jet extending out to at least 31'' at a position angle of about 295° from the star. A counterjet extending to at least 3.5' in the opposite direction is also visible.
