Black Holes and Scalar Fields

open access: yes, 2015
No-hair theorems in theories of gravity with a scalar field are briefly and critically reviewed. Their significance and limitations are discussed and potential evasions are considered.Comment: 16 pages, contribution to the Classical and Quantum Gravity ...

Polyphenol‐Derived Carbonaceous Frameworks with Multiscale Porosity for High‐Power Electrochemical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines the fluid dynamic behavior within carbonaceous porous structures, linking structural characteristics to electrolyte transport and electrochemical performance. Specifically, it quantitatively assesses the effect of polyphenol derivatives‐harnessed multiscale pore structures on active surface utilization and electrochemical activity ...

Symmetry, Gravity and Noncommutativity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We review some aspects of the implementation of spacetime symmetries in noncommutative field theories, emphasizing their origin in string theory and how they may be used to construct theories of gravitation. The geometry of canonical noncommutative gauge

An étude on global vacuum energy sequester

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
Recently two of the authors proposed a mechanism of vacuum energy sequester as a means of protecting the observable cosmological constant from quantum radiative corrections.

The Structure‐Mechanics Relationship of Bamboo‐Epidermis and Inspired Composite Design by Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates the micromechanics of bamboo epidermis, focusing on how anisotropic silica particle distributions enhance toughness. By integrating experimental imaging, 3D printing, and generative AI, the study develops bio‐inspired particle‐reinforced composites with mechanical properties akin to bamboo.

Black Holes, Entropy Bound and Causality Violation

open access: yes, 2009
The gravity/gauge theory duality has provided us a way of studying QCD at short distances from straightforward calculations in classical general relativity. Among numerous results obtained so far, one of the most striking is the universality of the ratio

Recent Advances in Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ubiquitous defects predominately account for photo‐instability and open‐circuit voltage losses in wide‐bandgap perovskite solar cells (WBG PSCs). This review comprehensively presents the underlying impact mechanisms, summarizes the advanced optimization strategies across various functional layers and their interfaces to develop efficient and stable WBG

Some No-go Theorems for String Duals of Non-relativistic Lifshitz-like Theories

open access: yes, 2009
We study possibilities of string theory embeddings of the gravity duals for non-relativistic Lifshitz-like theories with anisotropic scale invariance. We search classical solutions in type IIA and eleven-dimensional supergravities which are expected to ...

Gravitation in terms of observables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In the 1960's, Mandelstam proposed a new approach to gauge theories and gravity based on loops. The program for gauge theories was completed for Yang--Mills theories by Gambini and Trias in the 1980's.

Fabrication of Schiff Base Interfacial Films via Polyethyleneimine and Glutaraldehyde for pH‐Responsive Oil‐in‐Water High Internal Phase Emulsions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Due to the Schiff base reaction between polyethyleneimine and glutaraldehyde in the aqueous phase, a pH‐responsive interfacial film is constructed at the interface of the two immiscible phases. Consequently, both pH‐reversible high internal phase emulsions and pH‐controlled release capsules can be easily fabricated using this emulsion system.
