Instabilities of Black Strings and Branes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We review recent progress on the instabilities of black strings and branes both for pure Einstein gravity as well as supergravity theories which are relevant for string theory. We focus mainly on Gregory-Laflamme instabilities.

Recent Advancements in Lung Cancer Metastasis Prevention Based on Nanostrategies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metastasis is the leading cause of death in patients with lung cancer. Nanomedicine can be used to prepare efficient drug delivery systems owing to their advantages and plays an important role in the synergistic antimetastasis of lung cancer. This comprehensive review summarizes the emerging nanostrategies against lung cancer metastasis based on the ...

Determination of Angle of Light Deflection in Higher-Derivative Gravity Theories

open access: yes, 2017
Gravitational light deflection is known as one of three classical tests of general relativity and the angle of deflection may be computed explicitly using approximate or exact solutions describing the gravitational force generated from a point mass.

A pilot study on canonical gravity with mass dimension one fermions

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
The mass dimension one (MDO) fermionic field is built on a complete set of dual-helicity eigenspinors of the charge conjugation operator, which obeys the statistic of Fermi-Dirac.

Semaphorin 3E‐Plexin‐D1 Pathway Downstream of the Luteinizing Hormone Surge Regulates Ovulation, Granulosa Cell Luteinization, and Ovarian Angiogenesis in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Semaphorin 3E (Sema3E)‐Plexin‐D1 pathway mediated by C/EBPα and C/EBPβ downstream of the luteinizing hormone (LH) surge plays important roles in the mouse preovulatory ovary. Timely activation and suppression of this pathway during the preovulatory stage are crucial for ovulation, corpus luteum formation, and proper angiogenesis.

Motion in classical field theories and the foundations of the self-force problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This article serves as a pedagogical introduction to the problem of motion in classical field theories. The primary focus is on self-interaction: How does an object’s own field affect its motion?

Are there Einsteinian gravities involving covariant derivatives of the Riemann tensor?

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We study the particle content of higher derivative theories of gravity built with contractions of the Riemann tensor and its covariant derivatives. In the absence of the latter, there is a family of theories exhibiting an Einsteinian spectrum known as ...

Communications Among Neurocytes in Parkinson's Disease Regulated by Differential Metabolism and Blood‐Brain Barrier Traversing of Chiral Gold Cluster‐MOF Integrated Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study have loaded chiral gold nanoclusters onto the inner and outer surfaces of ZIF and uncovers the biodistribution, metabolic variances, and therapeutic mechanism of chiral nanoparticles, providing deep insights into the nanobiological effects of chiral anti‐inflammatory nanomedicines in PD therapy for future clinical transformation.

Quantum gravity from general relativity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Although general relativity is a predictively successful theory, it treats matter as classical rather than as quantum. For this reason, it will have to be replaced by a more fundamental quantum theory of gravity. Attempts to formulate a quantum theory of gravity suggest that such a theory may have radical consequences for the nature, and indeed the ...
