Pontophaedusa funiculum (Mousson, 1856) (Gastropoda: Eupulmonata: Clausiliidae) lived in captivity for 15 years [PDF]

open access: yesMalacologica Bohemoslovaca, 2021
A specimen of the clausiliid snail Pontophaedusa funiculum (Mousson, 1856) was kept alive for 15 years after it was collected as an adult. This is the longest direct observation of the lifespan in the Clausiliidae, and one of the longest in all land ...

Thirty years of slug control using the parasitic nematode Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita and beyond

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 79, Issue 10, Page 3408-3424, October 2023., 2023
The nematode Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita is a parasite of slugs and snails and has been formulated into a biological control agent for use across northern Europe since 1994. Here, we review all research on P. hermaphrodita that has been carried out over the last 30 years and suggest future priorities.

Environmental heterogeneity of the Lower Palaeolithic land surface on the Goodwood‐Slindon Raised Beach: comparisons of the records from Boxgrove and Valdoe, Sussex, UK

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, Volume 37, Issue 4, Page 572-592, May 2022., 2022
ABSTRACT The buried soil above the Goodwood‐Slindon Raised Beach running along the foot of the South Downs (Sussex) is one of the most extensive Lower Palaeolithic land surfaces known. It extends for 16 km but exposures are limited to Boxgrove, the focus of archaeological excavations since the 1980s, and Valdoe, 4.8 km to the west.

Phylogeny of the land snail Levantina reveals long‐distance dispersal in the Middle East

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, Volume 51, Issue 2, Page 161-172, March 2022., 2022
Abstract Populations of rock‐dwelling snails are often isolated from each other due to outcrops of suitable rock forming islands separated by uninhabitable habitats. By chance, some snail taxa were able to rapidly extend their distribution ranges or colonise distant areas.

Additional information on the reproductive biology and development of the clausilial apparatus in Pontophaedusa funiculum (Mousson, 1856)(Gastropoda, Pulmonata, Clausiliidae, Phaedusinae) [PDF]

open access: yesMalacologica Bohemoslovaca, 2010
The present paper gives additional information on the reproductive biology and describes the development of the clausilial apparatus (CA) of the clausiliid land snail Pontophaedusa funiculum (Mousson, 1856).
