Crossover from hc/e to hc/2e current oscillations in rings of s-wave superconductors

open access: yes, 2008
We analyze the crossover from an hc/e-periodicity of the persistent current in flux threaded clean metallic rings towards an hc/2e-flux periodicity of the supercurrent upon entering the superconducting state. On the basis of a model calculation for a one-

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Atmospheric CO2 data from the Australian Grains Free Air CO2 Enrichment (AGFACE) facility

open access: yesData in Brief, 2022
Within the Australian Grains Free Air CO2 Enrichment (AGFACE) research program, several facilities were established at different field sites near the towns of Horsham (36.752 S, 142.114 E; 127 m elevation), and Walpeup (35.121 S, 142.005 E; 94 m ...

Weakly clean rings

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2014
Building on his ground-breaking work from ``Corner rings of a clean ring need not be clean'' [Commun. Algebra 40, No. 5, 1595-1604 (2012; Zbl 1247.16034)], the author continues his study of weakly clean rings and elements. Let \(R\) be a ring. The author calls \(a\in R\) \textit{weakly clean} exactly when the diagonal matrix \(\text{diag}(a,0)\) is ...

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

On weakly clean rings

open access: yesCommunications in Algebra, 2016
ABSTRACTA ring is called clean if every element is a sum of a unit and an idempotent, while a ring is said to be weakly clean if every element is either a sum or a difference of a unit and an idempotent. Commutative weakly clean rings were first discussed by Anderson and Camillo [2] and were extensively investigated by Ahn and Anderson [1], motivated ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

The strong nil-cleanness of semigroup rings

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2020
In this paper, we study the strong nil-cleanness of certain classes of semigroup rings. For a completely 0-simple semigroup M=ℳ0(G;I,Λ;P)M={ {\mathcal M} }^{0}(G;I,\text{Λ};P), we show that the contracted semigroup ring R0[M]{R}_{0}{[}M] is ...
