Rethinking the correction for absorbing aerosols in the OMI- and TROPOMI-like surface UV algorithms [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2021
Satellite estimates of surface UV irradiance have been available since 1978 from the TOMS UV spectrometer and have continued with significantly improved ground resolution using the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI 2004–current) and Sentinel 5 Precursor ...

Estimation of evapotranspiration over the Yellow River's source area from national geostationary meteorological satellite data

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2012
The evapotranspiration(ET) from the source area of the Yellow River was estimated from the national geostationary meteorological satellite data and ground observation for September 2009.The ET estimation uses the energy balance approach.Under clear-sky ...

Sand-Dust Image Restoration Based on Reversing the Blue Channel Prior

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
Images acquired under sand-dust weather conditions are severely degraded, with low contrast and severe color shift. The reason is that, due to the influence of sand-dust particles, light is scattered and absorbed, resulting in a blurred image and low ...

Changes in the surface irradiance during the total solar eclipse 2020 in Valcheta, Argentina

open access: yesPapers in Physics, 2023
On December 14, 2020, southern South America experienced a total solar eclipse close to the solar noon. The path of totality, about 90 km wide, extended over the continental region from the Chilean west coast to the Argentine east coast, passing through

Nomograms for estimating clear-sky zenith atmospheric attenuation in range 80–130 GHz

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1973
Two nomograms are presented for estimating the zenith attenuation of radio waves, due to oxygen and water vapour in a cloudfree atmosphere, in the region 80 to 130 GHz, for a range of climatic conditions.

Design and Characterization of a Two‐Dimensional Soft Array Based on Cooperative Dielectric Elastomer Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fully polymeric two‐dimensional array of Dielectric Elastomers enables self‐sensing, cooperative actuation, and large‐stroke operation in a DE‐based autonomous conveyor. Based only on voltage and current measurements at actuator level, the system detects the presence of a ball and subsequently drives it toward a target position.
