Improving The Accuracy of the Empirical Clear Sky Solar Irradiance Models

open access: yesAnnals of West University of Timisoara: Physics, 2013
This paper is focused on improving the quality of nowcasting solar irradiance by enhancing the clear sky component of the model. A simple linear correction for the average atmospheric transmittance is proposed.

Inhomogeneous Radiative Forcing of NF3

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2017
Nitrogen trifluoride (NF3) has the potential to make a growing contribution to the Earth’s radiative budget. In this study, the global mean radiative efficiency of NF3 is calculated as 0.188 W·m−2·ppb−1 by line-by-line method.

Electrically Tunable Heliconical Smectic Superstructure in Polar Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Strong dipole–dipole interactions give rise to an emergent polar smectic phase with spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking. This resulting polar heliconical smectic superstructure enables novel functionalities in polar fluids, such as color modulation driven by electric field strength and frequency, as well as second‐harmonic generation amplification ...

Clear-sky spectral UV radiation modelling

open access: yes, 2022
The parametric model NEOPLANTA was used to study the effects of various atmospheric conditions on terrestrial spectral UV irradiance. The capability of the model to correctly reproduce processes in the atmosphere is tested by changing input parameters such as ozone content, solar zenith angle, amount and type of aerosols, and altitude.
