Water and nitrogen processes along a typical water flowpath and streamwater exports from a forested catchment and changes after clear-cutting: a modelling study [PDF]
A two dimensional model, FEMMA, to describe water and nitrogen (N) fluxes within and from a forested first-order catchment (Kangasvaara in Eastern Finland) was constructed by linking the most significant processes affecting the fluxes of water, ammonium,

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Effects of Biochar on Vegetation and Material Fertility of Construction Waste and Completely Decomposed Granite [PDF]
Construction and demolition waste (CDW) represents a promising sustainable alternative for various geo-environmental applications. While CDW shares some properties with natural soil, its high alkalinity and poor water retention pose challenges for ...

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Remote sensing, numerical modelling and ground truthing for analysis of lake water quality and temperature [PDF]
Freshwater accounts for just 2.5% of the earth’s water resources, and its quality and availability are becoming an issue of global concern in the 21st century.

Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Impact of community water systems in small towns [PDF]
The primary purpose of this study was to describe the impact the addition of a community water system to a small town would have upon that town and the surrounding communities.

A good vaccine should direct the immune response to virus regions that are most difficult to escape. Here, Quadeer et al. develop a predictive in-silico evolutionary model for HCV E2 which identifies one such antigenic region and identifies multiple ...

We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...
