Polyamine Metabolism in Climacteric and Non-Climacteric Fruit Ripening

Methods in molecular biology, 2017
Polyamines are small aliphatic amines that are found in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. These growth regulators have been implicated in abiotic and biotic stresses as well as plant development and morphogenesis. Several studies have also suggested a key role of polyamines during fruit set and early development.

Characterization of Climacteric and Non-Climacteric Fruit Ripening

Methods in molecular biology, 2018
Senescence is the terminal stage of plant development. It is a strategic and tactical response to seasonal and unpredictable stresses. As an important part of plant senescence, fruit ripening is normally viewed distinctly as climacteric or non-climacteric.

THE MALE CLIMACTERIC

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1939
It seems reasonable to believe that many if not all men pass through a climacteric period somewhat similar to that of women, usually in a less severe but perhaps more prolonged form. The cessation of menstruation in the female at the so-called change of life has been tangible evidence for ages that the woman is having a decline in her sex function and ...

The climacteric syndrome

1976
The debate concerning the side-effects of oestrogen therapy for post-menopausal women is currently causing much anxiety, but of no less importance is the need for a clear understanding of the symptomatology and the endocrine changes of the climacteric syndrome.

The Climacteric Disease [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of the American Geriatrics Society, 1977
ABSTRACTEvidence is provided to show that the account of “The Climacteric Disease” given in 1813 by Sir Henry Halford, Physician to King George III, was his interpretation that the King's illness was due to aging as a disease. This laid foundations upon which are placed the unfavorable attitudes toward Geriatric Medicine today, and which may affect the

Culture and the climacteric

Journal of Biosocial Science, 1979
SummaryTwo American ethnic (sub-cultural) groups of Cuban and Jewish women of comparable socio-economic status were studied in New Jersey, USA in order to show how each of their cultures influences the climacteric. A wide spectrum of cultural variables, associated with each of these ethnic groups, was obtained through a questionnaire about self-image ...

Ethylene Control Technologies in Extending Postharvest Shelf Life of Climacteric Fruit.

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2017
Fresh fruit is important for a healthy diet. However, because of their seasonal production, regional specific cultivation, and perishable nature, it is essential to develop preservation technologies to extend the postharvest shelf life of fresh fruits ...

Confrontation in the Climacteric

Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, 1994
Why is an increasing number of women dissatisfied with their doctors' help in their climacteric? Why do so many object to hormone replacement therapy (HRT)? Why do they generally feel it is not ‘natural’? Though many object to getting old, want to continue flaunting their ‘eternal youth’, many more, women and men, embrace retirement, wish to rest and
