We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Effects of Pacific Intertropical Convergence Zone precipitation bias on ENSO phase transition
In this study, the effect of mean precipitation bias over the Pacific Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) on the El Niño southern oscillation (ENSO) transition is examined using CMIP3 and CMIP5 archives.

KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Energy Constraints for Climate Models from Hydrologic Partitioning
It is well known that evaporative cooling of Earth's surface water reduces the amount of radiation that goes into sensible heat, namely the portion of radiation that produces higher temperatures.

Model performance and surface impacts of atmospheric river events in Antarctica
There is increasing evidence that atmospheric rivers (ARs) drive extreme precipitation and melt events across Antarctica and that these impacts are more accurately captured in high-resolution models.

Reversibility of Arctic Sea Ice Retreat - A Multi-Scale Modeling Approach [PDF]
Arctic summer sea ice has been retreating rapidly over past decade. Climate model projections show further retreat under typical forcing scenarios. The mode of the retreat is a matter of debate.

A spatial analysis of multivariate output from regional climate models [PDF]
Climate models have become an important tool in the study of climate and climate change, and ensemble experiments consisting of multiple climate-model runs are used in studying and quantifying the uncertainty in climate-model output.
