Climate Variability on Venus and Titan

open access: yesSpace Science Reviews, 2007
Venus and Titan are both slowly-rotating, approximately Earth-sized bodies with cloudy, dynamic atmospheres. Each has a complex climate system, even less well understood than the terrestrial equivalent, and the processes that appear to maintain the climate near the surface on both bodies have interesting similarities and differences with each other and

Topography‐Regulated Screening Platform for Myoblast Contact Guidance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study develops a topography‐regulated screening platform (12 gradients in 96‐topography‐well plate) enabling analysis of skeletal muscle morphogenesis. The topography‐induced cell morphology changed, cell polarization, and myotube differentiation, establishing an evaluative framework for generating pathologically relevant myotube phenotypes to ...

Emulating Natural Climate Variability With InVERT (Internal Variability Emulator for Regional Temperature)

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Climate change impacts include contributions from both anthropogenic forcing and internal (natural) climate variability. Large ensembles of Earth System Model (ESM) simulations have been used to quantify the influence of natural variability in climate ...

Enhancing Small Molecule Sensing With Aptameric Functionalized Nano Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Unveiling an ultra‐sensitive, non‐invasive neurotransmitter sensor. For the first time, a nanoscale sensor for detecting an important neurotransmitter was demonstrated using micro‐electromechanical systems (MEMS) technology. Our approach utilized field‐effect transistor (FET)‐based readout to enable pico‐molar detection of biomarkers in sweat.

Detecting the long-term impacts from climate variability and increasing water consumption on runoff in the Krishna river basin (India) [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2006
Variations in climate, land-use and water consumption can have profound effects on river runoff. There is an increasing demand to study these factors at the regional to river basin-scale since these effects will particularly affect water resources ...

A mechanism for decadal climate variability

open access: yes, 1996
We describe in this paper a mechanism for decadal climate variability that can lead to decadal climate cycles in the North Pacific and North Atlantic Oceans. A hierarchy of numerical models and observations are used to understand the fundamental dynamics
