One Health Genomic Analysis of Methicillin‐Resistant Staphylococcus spp. From Humans, Cats, and Dogs in a Veterinary Hospital in Central Chile

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, Volume 73, Issue 3, Page 205-217, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction The emergence of methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus species (MRS) poses a growing threat to both human and veterinary health. Methods We performed a comparative genomic characterisation of 49 methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus isolates collected from humans, dogs, and cats in a veterinary hospital from Central Chile.

Allium‐Derived Compounds Against Multidrug‐Resistant Bacteria: Antibacterial Activity and Synergistic Effects

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
This study evaluates four compounds derived from the genus Allium against 330 multidrug‐resistant bacteria. Propyl‐propane‐thiosulfonate (PTSO) exhibits the highest activity, particularly against Gram‐positive strains, while Gram‐negative bacteria are less affected.

Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency in a 42‐Day‐Old Infant: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency (LAD) is a rare primary immunodeficiency characterized by impaired leukocyte adhesion and migration, resulting in recurrent bacterial infections, poor wound healing, and delayed umbilical cord separation. We report a 42‐day‐old female infant who presented with recurrent skin infections and delayed cord detachment ...

Refractory Cervical Necrotizing Fasciitis Successfully Controlled by Submandibular Gland Excision: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Persistent cervical necrotizing fasciitis may indicate an unrecognized infectious reservoir. In refractory cases, excision of a suspected salivary gland may be required to achieve definitive infection control when repeated debridement fails.

Clinical Outcome Associated With Beta‐Lactam Allergy Labels in Hospitalized Patients in Belgium

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background In the United States, beta‐lactam allergy labels (BLAL) are documented in 9%–16% of hospitalized patients and associated with worse clinical outcomes such as increased mortality, length of hospital stay (LOS), intensive care unit (ICU) admission, and use of alternative antibiotics, providing an incentive for broad delabeling ...
