Despite the increasing reliance on breakpoint cluster region (bcr) determinations in diagnosis of chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML), few reports have dealt with the practical aspects of specimen analysis. In the setting of a routine molecular diagnostics laboratory, samples from 68 patients with active CML were evaluated for bcr rearrangements, with ...

The pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics (PK-PD) breakpoint of piperacillin/tazobactam (PIPC/TAZ) for hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa-induced bacteremia is controversial, since the susceptibility of P. aeruginosa to PIPC/TAZ is known to be lower than that set by the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), ≤64 mg/L. The

Antimicrobial susceptibility test breakpoints are necessary for the correct clinical interpretation of quantitative or qualitative susceptibility test values of antibacterial agents. Breakpoints are selected by regulatory bodies or professional groups (eg, the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards) based on an extensive review of the ...

Cytogenetic study in a case of acute myelogenous leukemia revealed the presence of two identical dicentric marker chromosomes derived from an X with Xq13 breakpoints. Clinical and cytochemical findings suggest that the patient was affected by idiopathic acquired sideroblastic anemia before the acute leukemia.

Clinical impact of breakpoint position within M-bcr in chronic myeloid leukemia.
Leukemia, 1993We have analyzed the M-bcr breakpoint position in 133 Philadelphia-positive chronic myeloid leukemia patients and correlated the findings with clinical, hematologic, and cytogenetic data. We also investigated the splicing pattern of the BCR-ABL mRNA in 30 patients, using reverse transcriptase PCR.
