Glucagon‐Like Peptide‐1 Receptor Agonist‐Based Agents and Body Composition: Filling More Gaps

open access: yesObesity, Volume 34, Issue S2, Page 51-63, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The last 2 decades have seen historic advances in the treatment of obesity. We are entering an era of defining obesity not by weight‐based outcomes but by changes in body composition. Glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs) are forming the platform for obesity treatments based on their high level of efficacy. Body composition can

Portable Radar for Noncontact Heart Rate Monitoring and Estrus Detection in Dairy Cows

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Volume 21, Issue 9, Page 1390-1403, September 2026.
This study introduces a portable radar system for real‐time monitoring of respiratory and heart rates in dairy cows. It uses millimeter‐wave Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar to perform noncontact physiological sensing, reducing behavioral disturbance. The radar system's design prioritizes portability, cost‐effectiveness, and robustness,

Ketogenic Diet and β‐Hydroxybutyrate Suppress Bladder Cancer Growth and Enhance Anti‐PD‐L1 Immunotherapy Efficacy

open access: yesCancer Science, Volume 117, Issue 9, Page 2379-2396, September 2026.
Ketogenic diet and β‐hydroxybutyrate (β‐HB) suppress bladder cancer growth through direct anti‐tumor mechanisms and enhance anti‐PD‐L1 immunotherapy efficacy. β‐HB upregulates PD‐L1 via JAK2‐STAT3 activation and remodels the tumor immune microenvironment, sensitizing tumors to immune checkpoint blockade. ABSTRACT The limited clinical efficacy of immune

Psychological research in eating disorders/disordered eating in type 1 diabetes: A systematic review using the NIH stage model for behavioural intervention development

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, Volume 43, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Aims Eating disorders in type 1 diabetes are 2.4 times more likely to develop than those who do not have diabetes. The aim was to conduct a systematic review on psychological interventions in IRDEB (insulin‐related disordered eating behaviour)/eating disorders with adults who have type 1 diabetes.

Analysing Resilience Indicator Traits in Austrian Fleckvieh, Brown Swiss and Holstein‐Friesian Cattle

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Volume 143, Issue 5, Page 613-624, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Recent studies suggest that variations in milk yield during lactation can serve as a metric for assessing individual resilience, with minimum fluctuations reflecting greater resilience in cows. With automatic milking systems, multiple records can be obtained from many cows on a daily basis. Given that animals are continually exposed to a range

Blood Pressure Phenotypes in Patients Recently Diagnosed With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Matched Controls: A Study in Urban Mozambique

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Hypertension, Volume 28, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Accurate characterization of blood pressure (BP) phenotypes is essential for cardiovascular risk assessment, particularly among type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. We aimed to evaluate the prevalence of different BP phenotypes using multiple BP assessment methods, in Black Africans, with and without T2DM. Recently diagnosed T2DM patients

Insulin‐reducing effect of adding imeglimin to ongoing dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 inhibitor therapy with multiple daily insulin injections (INSPIRE study)

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, Volume 17, Issue 9, Page 1467-1473, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Simplifying multiple daily insulin injections (MDI) has attracted great interest in clinical practice. Although imeglimin shows good compatibility with dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 inhibitors (DPP‐4i), its effectiveness in patients treated with MDI remains unclear.

Wnt3a Downregulation Contributes to Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus by Impairing Pancreatic β‐Cell Function

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 16, 31 August 2026.
Wnt3a downregulation is associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in clinical patients and high‐fat diet (HFD)‐induced mouse models. In MIN6 pancreatic β‐cells, knockdown of Wnt3a impairs insulin secretion and β‐cell function under insulin‐resistant conditions, while recombinant Wnt3a treatment rescues these defects.
