Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Tumour‐proximal deep serum proteomics identifies biomarkers associated with ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
New biomarkers are needed for early ovarian cancer detection. Ovarian (tumour‐proximal) and peripheral vein serum from healthy women and patients with benign or malignant tumours underwent nanoparticle‐enriched deep proteomics. Ovarian serum yielded more protein identifications and revealed tumour‐reflective signatures.

Critical ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome leading to severe malnutrition: shedding some lights on an extremely rare case report from Vietnam and narrative review

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth
Background Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a self-limited iatrogenic complication of controlled-ovarian stimulation. The condition occurs spontaneously or secondary to exogenous gonadotropins which may cause a severe condition.

Duration of late-follicular elevated progesterone and in vitro fertilization outcomes in pituitary down-regulation treatment cycles

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2023
BackgroundThe objective of this study was to explore whether the duration of LFEP (late-follicular elevated progesterone) affected pregnancy outcomes in IVF (in vitro fertilization) patients treated with pituitary downregulation protocols.MethodPatients ...

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

EUROPEAN TERATOLOGY INFORMATION SERVICE: EXPERIENCE, PROBLEMS AND PERSPECTIVES

open access: yesПедиатрическая фармакология, 2007
Congenital malformations are still the important medical and social issue. They take the second place among the reasons for the infant mortality and cause up to 18,3% of disablement cases among the children. Exogenous factors, effecting the growing fetus,

Automated quantitative evaluation of fetal atrioventricular annular plane systolic excursion before and after intrauterine blood transfusion in pregnancies affected by red blood cell alloimmunization

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica
Introduction Maternal red blood cell alloimmunization during pregnancy can lead to hemolysis and various degrees of fetal anemia, which can be treated with intrauterine blood transfusion (IUT) to prevent adverse outcomes. Knowledge about fetal myocardial

Avidin is evolutionarily conserved in fish but dispensable for development and resistance against Streptococcus agalactiae in zebrafish

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The presence of biotin‐binding avidin proteins in fish and their biological significance are poorly characterized. We cataloged fish avidins and demonstrate that they are widely present and evolutionarily conserved. We created avd knockout zebrafish and show that zebavidin is dispensable for development and that resistance of avd knockout embryos in ...

BCG vaccination potentiates oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal myeloid‐derived suppressor cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BCG vaccination enhances oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal MDSCs, impairing their immunosuppressive function. It upregulates electron transport chain genes and mitochondrial activity, increasing ATP and oxygen consumption. Pharmacological OXPHOS inhibition partially restores suppressive capacity, confirming causality.

Pregnancy outcome after first-trimester exposure to JAK inhibitors - an evaluation of the German Embryotox cohort

open access: yesBMC Pharmacology and Toxicology
Background Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKi) are increasingly being used in the management of autoimmune diseases across rheumatology, gastroenterology, and dermatology, including in women of childbearing age. Consequently, pregnancies occurring during JAKi
