In vitro fertilization (IVF) refers to the technology of a fertility procedure used to aid conception of the embryo by using a combination of drugs and surgery to encourage sperm to fertilize eggs and help fertilized eggs implant in the uterus. This method is used to treat couples who do not have eggs or sperm (through donor gametes).

There have been concerns on the potential overuse of in vitro fertilization (IVF) in view of the lack of evidence on effectiveness in certain populations, potential short and long-term safety risks, and economic considerations. Abstract The aim of the present study was to evaluate the efficiency of using in vitro fertilization to validate semen fertility for artificial insemination. Cryopreserved semen from ten bulls (five Nelore and five Brangus bulls) was evaluated using in vitro production of embryos (IVPE) and via fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI).
