Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Clinical study, network pharmacology, and molecular docking of Kunxian capsule in treating idiopathic membranous nephropathy

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
ObjectiveA new Tripterygium wilfordii preparation called Kunxian capsule (KX) has been approved in China. However, it is still unknown whether KX is safe and effective for idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN) and its therapeutic mechanism of action is

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Activity of recombinant human interleukin-21 (rIL-21) in patients (pts) with stage IV malignant melanoma (MM) without prior treatment : clinical data from a phase IIa study

open access: yes, 2008
Background: IL-21 has a key role in cancer immunology. We have previously described a phase 1 study of rIL-21 in pts with advanced MM. We now report final clinical results from a phase 2a study in treatment-naïve pts with advanced MM. Methods: Open-label,

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Relapse rate after adjuvant trastuzumab in the northeast of Italy: Preliminary data from a multicenter observational study in a clinical setting. J Clin Oncol 30, 2012 (suppl; abstr 586)

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Relapse Rate (RR) after Adjuvant Trastuzumab (AT) reported in clinical trials is between 15 and 21%. Information on RR and clinical behaviour of HER2-POS metastatic disease after AT outside clinical trials is limited.
