Groundwater reinjection and heat dissipation: lessons from the operation of a large groundwater cooling system in Central London [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The performance of a large open-loop groundwater cooling scheme in a shallow alluvial aquifer at a prominent public building in Central London has been monitored closely over its first 2 years of operation.

Potential Early Risk Biomarkers for Reduced Forced Expiratory Volume in Children Post‐Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.

Psychosocial Outcomes in Patients With Endocrine Tumor Syndromes: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The combination of disease manifestations, the familial burden, and varying penetrance of endocrine tumor syndromes (ETSs) is unique. This review aimed to portray and summarize available data on psychosocial outcomes in patients with ETSs and explore gaps and opportunities for future research and care.

Granular discharge and clogging for tilted hoppers

open access: yes, 2009
We measure the flux of spherical glass beads through a hole as a systematic function of both tilt angle and hole diameter, for two different size beads.

The MedSupport Multilevel Intervention to Enhance Support for Pediatric Medication Adherence: Development and Feasibility Testing

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction We developed MedSupport, a multilevel medication adherence intervention designed to address root barriers to medication adherence. This study sought to explore the feasibility and acceptability of the MedSupport intervention strategies to support a future full‐scale randomized controlled trial.

Application of physical clogging models to Managed Aquifer Recharge: a review of modelling approaches from engineering fields

open access: yesAcque Sotterranee, 2023
Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) sites suffer from the long-lasting problem of clogging. The causes of clogging are physical, biological, chemical and mechanical processes and their complex interaction, with physical clogging being recognised as the ...

Sensitivity to lunar cycles prior to the 2007 eruption of Ruapehu volcano [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A long-standing question in Earth Science is the extent to which seismic and volcanic activity can be regulated by tidal stresses, a repeatable and predictable external excitation induced by the Moon-Sun gravitational force.

Cerebrospinal Fluid Liquid Biopsy Enables Targeted Therapy Without Tissue Diagnosis in Pediatric Low‐Grade Gliomas With BRAF V600E Mutation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present two pediatric cases of pediatric low‐grade gliomas (PLGG) with BRAF V600E mutations diagnosed and monitored using cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) liquid biopsy analyzed via digital droplet PCR (ddPCR), without tissue biopsy. Both patients were treated with dabrafenib and trametinib and monitored through clinical assessments, magnetic ...

Clogging Modes of Microbially Induced Calcium Carbonate Precipitation Under Continuous Flow Conditions and Mode Transitions

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) holds vast potential for soil reinforcement, material repair, and permeability control. However, the pore structure evolution and clogging modes under continuous flow conditions remain elusive ...
