Fifty thiourea derivatives are synthesized and evaluated against Mycobacterium kansasii. Compounds 2, 47, and 49 demonstrate potent extra‐ and intracellular activity without causing macrophage cytotoxicity, even against the hypervirulent strains. Structure–activity relationships and in silico analyses highlight favorable molecular features and predict ...

Enantioselective reductions of p‐R1‐C6H4C(O)CH2R2 (R1 = Cl, Br, CH3, OCH3, NO2 and R2 = Br, Cl) mediated by Geotrichum candidum CCT 1205 and Rhodotorula glutinis CCT 2182 afforded the corresponding halohydrins with complementary R and S configurations, respectively, in excellent yield and enantiomeric excesses.

Exploratory survey Food safety and consumer behaviour in Switzerland
Summary Campylobacter infections are the main cause of foodborne illness. Poultry – particularly chicken – has been identified as the most significant source of infection. Despite efforts, case numbers have not fallen. The aim of this study was therefore to assess the current situation regarding kitchen hygiene based on a consumer survey, and to ...

Amine dehydrogenases (AmDHs) are NAD(P)H‐depended oxidoreductases that rely on NAD(P)H as cofactor to catalyze the reductive amination of carbonyl‐containing compounds in the presence of ammonia. Depending on the catalytic activities of other enzymes as reaction partners, AmDHs find applications in various synthetic pathways, as well as in kinetic ...

Summary The Arabidopsis thaliana transcription factor BRANCHED1 (BRC1) plays a pivotal role in the control of shoot branching as it integrates environmental and endogenous signals that influence axillary bud growth. Despite its remarkable activity as a growth inhibitor, the mechanisms by which BRC1 promotes bud dormancy are largely unknown.
