High Repetition Rate Laser‐Induced Printing of Bioink with Picosecond Pulse Durations: Optimization of the Printing Process

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the use of laser‐induced forward transfer in the picosecond regime to create in vitro biomodels. Focusing on hydrodynamics and rheology, it investigates jet dynamics through time‐resolved imaging, optimizing laser fluence, biological ink viscosity, and printing distance to precisely control the volume and location of bioink ...

Disk Draining in LIGO Progenitor Black Hole Binaries and Its Significance to Electromagnetic Counterparts

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The effect of tidal forces on transport within a relic accretion disk in binary black holes is studied here with a suite of two-dimensional hydrodynamic simulations. As the binary contracts owing to the emission of gravitational waves, the accretion disk

ALD‐Assisted VO2 for Memristor Application

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a strategy for depositing VOx using thermal atomic layer deposition (ALD) followed by thermal annealing to synthesize VO2. The thin film and core/shell wire memristors exhibit excellent switching performance and are highly sensitive to ambient temperature.

Physics of massive stars relevant for the modeling of Wolf-Rayet populations

open access: yes, 2015
Key physical ingredients governing the evolution of massive stars are mass losses, convection and mixing in radiative zones. These effects are important both in the frame of single and close binary evolution.

TESS Light Curves of Cataclysmic Variables. V. Improved or Corrected Orbital Periods of 53 Systems

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
The long and continuous high-time-resolution coverage of many stars by the Kepler and TESS space missions permit to explore periodic phenomena with a much higher precision than is possible with terrestrial observations.

The AH Pictoris Syndrome: Continuous Trains of Stunted Outbursts in Novalike Variables

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Novalike variables are a subgroup of cataclysmic variables (CVs) that—unlike dwarf novae—do not exhibit strong brightenings in their long-term light curves.
