From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

The rise of close reading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The purpose of this advanced literature review is to examine the evolution of close reading as a reading strategy. Currently, close reading is a strategy used to teach students to independently navigate through challenging text.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Więzy czasu. Queerowe tymczasowości i queerowe historie

open access: yesTeksty Drugie, 2023
In a preface to her book, Freeman begins from Robert Graves’s poem “It’s A Queer Time.” Freeman finds many chapters of her book answers to the poem. She explains that the introduction to her book projects a theory on the interconnectedness of time and ...

Decoding the dynamic extracellular matrix in cancer—3D models and bioscaffolds rewire the rules of tumor progression

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer progression is regulated by the dynamic matrix code of the tumor microenvironment, which influences cellular behavior and disease development. Importantly, matrix remodeling in three‐dimensional cancer models more accurately reflects in vivo conditions compared to conventional two‐dimensional systems.

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Rencontres et réceptions avec Marine Picon : quel est le fondement de la connaissance ?

open access: yesLexicon Philosophicum
The purpose of this note is to explore the theme of language as an object of reception, to highlight the interrelationship between some key concepts, and to sketch, however briefly, a conceptual thread that will allow us to present some of the points of ...

Close Reading a Close Reading

open access: yesLoading
Mystery House is a game that was released in 1980 for the Apple II computer. It was the first text adventure game known to be illustrated and was the game design debut of celebrated game designer Roberta Williams. The landmark 2008 book Mechanisms: New Media and the Forensic Imagination performed a close reading of a Mystery Housefloppy disk, and in ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.
