Empirical Means on Pseudo-Orthogonal Groups

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
The present article studies the problem of computing empirical means on pseudo-orthogonal groups. To design numerical algorithms to compute empirical means, the pseudo-orthogonal group is endowed with a pseudo-Riemannian metric that affords the ...

Axial Symmetry Cosmological Constant Vacuum Solution of Field Equations with a Curvature Singularity, Closed Time-Like Curves, and Deviation of Geodesics

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2020
In this paper, we present a type D, nonvanishing cosmological constant, vacuum solution of Einstein’s field equations, extension of an axially symmetric, asymptotically flat vacuum metric with a curvature singularity.

Legacy effects of locally extinct flagship species on protected areas

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, EarlyView.
Protected areas (PAs) are often established to conserve flagship megafauna so as to mobilize political support and secure sustained conservation investment, with the expectation that flagship‐centered governance will also protect habitat. Despite such efforts, flagship species can experience extirpation, raising a fundamental question: do conservation ...

Warm‐wet transition restructures arid lake microbiomes and functional potential

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
This study summarizes how a long‐term warm‐dry to warm‐wet transition restructures microbiomes and functional potential in Lake Bosten, an arid lake in northwestern China. Warm‐wet hydroclimatic change increased water level and hydrological connectivity, while decreasing salinity and total nitrogen.

Intercomparison of a Regional Climate Model Ensemble for Selected European Catchments

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
This study analyzes a regional climate model ensemble for water cycle and water resource research with two models. Results show that ICON generally outperforms TSMP1 simulations, mainly with 2‐m temperature and precipitation. These findings serve as a baseline evaluation that shows how key structural differences influence the model skill.

Lengths of closed geodesics for certain warped product metrics and nearly round metrics on spheres

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications
We study warped product metrics on spheres and prove that the shortest length of closed geodesics for such metrics can be bounded above by its volume, under suitable assumptions on the warping function.

On Closed Geodesics on Ellipsoids

open access: yes, 2005
Closed geodesic lines on an ellipsoid in d-dimensional Euclidean space are considered. Explicit algebro-geometric condition for closedness of such a geodesic is given. The obtained condition is discussed in light of theta-functions theory and compared with some recent related results.

Decoupling glacier retreat and surface stabilization on the Snežnik Plateau (Slovenia), insights from in situ cosmogenic 36Cl exposure and depth‐profile ages

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glaciokarst landscapes pose distinctive challenges for cosmogenic dating because meltwater and runoff can be rapidly rerouted into ponors and conduit networks, weakening glacier–river coupling and promoting local sediment storage. We reconstruct glacier retreat and postglacial stabilization on the Snežnik Plateau (SW Slovenia) using in situ ...

Axially Symmetric Null Dust Space-Time, Naked Singularity, and Cosmic Time Machine

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2017
We present a gravitational collapse null dust solution of the Einstein field equations. The space-time is regular everywhere except on the symmetry axis where it possesses a naked curvature singularity and admits one parameter isometry group, a generator
