The complete nucleotide sequence of a novel member of the genus Crinivirus (family Closteroviridae), isolated from blackberry and tentatively named Blackberry yellow vein associated virus, was determined. The virus possesses a bipartite genome. RNA 1 is 7,801 nucleotides in length and papain-like protease, methyltransferase, RNA helicase and RNA ...

Raspberry mosaic is one of the most important viral diseases of raspberry. Four virus and virus-like agents, two of which are poorly characterized, have been implicated in the disease complex based on symptom development in Rubus indicators. Three novel viruses were identified in a red raspberry plant that caused typical raspberry mosaic symptoms when ...

A large‐scale survey of Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) was carried out from 2016 to 2018 in the Chlef Valley, one of the main citrus growing areas in Algeria. In this study a total of 1680 citrus trees from 93 commercial orchards were sampled. The collected samples were tested by direct tissue blot immunoassay analysis and by the double antibody sandwich ...

Little cherry virus-2: Sequence and genomic organization of an unusual member of the Closteroviridae
Archives of Virology, 2004The complete genomic sequence of variant USA6b of Little cherry virus-2 (LChV-2), has been determined and is 15045 nucleotides in length, coding for 11 open reading frames (ORFs). The sequence shares 77.2% identity with a previously published, ca. 6 kb partial replicase sequence of LChV-2 (variant USA6a).

IDENTIFICATION OF A SECOND MEMBER OF THE FAMILY CLOSTEROVIRIDAE IN MOSAIC-DISEASED FIGS
A double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) ca. 19 kb in size was recovered from a fig tree of Algerian origin (F3) showing chlorotic mottling of the leaves and clearing of the second and third veins. Filamentous closteroviruslike particles up to 2100 nm in length and with distinct cross banding were observed in leaf dips.

Molecular evolution of viruses is driven by both positive selection and recombination. In an effort to determine putative recombination events in the entire genome of members of the family Closteroviridae comprising 54 accessions retrieved from the international databases, a detail study was carried out by using RDP algorithm version 3.31β.
