Lettuce Chlorosis Virus Disease: A New Threat to Cannabis Production
In a survey conducted in Cannabis sativa L. (cannabis) authorized farms in Israel, plants showed disease symptoms characteristic of nutrition deprivation. Interveinal chlorosis, brittleness, and occasional necrosis were observed in older leaves.

Inability of the brown citrus aphid (Toxoptera citricida) to transmit citrus psorosis virus under controlled conditions [PDF]
Might Toxoptera citricida (BrCA) be a citrus psorosis virus (CPsV) vector? We examined CPsV transmission by the BrCA throughout two experiments. In experiment 1, 4 CPsV-infected plants bearing BrCA colonies were introduced in separated cages with 12 ...

Sweet potato feathery mottle virus and sweet potato chlorotic stunt virus have high prevalence in Costa Rica. Riboprobes are a cost‐effective alternative to RT‐PCR for virus detection in large‐scale screenings. Abstract Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) is a crucial crop for food security and economic stability in many regions, including Costa Rica.

Cucurbit aphid‐borne yellows virus (CABYV), watermelon mosaic virus (WMV) and Pepo aphid‐borne yellows virus (PABYV) were the most prevalent viruses affecting melon and watermelon crops across three major producing areas in Spain. Abstract Mixed viral infections occur frequently in plants, leading to diseases that can be difficult to diagnose ...

Resistance to Grapevine leafroll associated virus-2 is conferred by post-transcriptional gene silencing in transgenic Nicotiana benthamiana [PDF]
Grapevine leafroll-associated virus-2 (GLRaV-2) is an important component of the leafroll disease complex in grapevine. We have previously sequenced the GLRaV-2 genome and identified the coat protein (CP) gene.

UAVs and CNNs show promise in automating disease scoring in sugar beets, offering efficiency and objectivity, but human expertise remains crucial for validation, especially for subtle disease symptoms. Abstract This study investigates the potential of high‐resolution (<0.5 cm/pixel) aerial imagery and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for disease ...

Defense strategies against sweet potato chlorotic stunt and pakakuy virus coinfection unraveled
Abstract This study into the response of two Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam cultivars, Melinda and Tio Joe, to coinfection with sweet potato chlorotic stunt virus (SPCSV) and sweet potato pakakuy virus (SPPV), employed a comprehensive approach encompassing symptomatology, real‐time quantitative polymerase chain reaction, metagenomics, and transcriptomics ...

Summary Eukaryotic translation initiation factors (eIFs) are the primary targets for overcoming RNA virus resistance in plants. In a previous study, we mapped a BjeIF2Bβ from Brassica juncea representing a new class of plant virus resistance genes associated with resistance to Turnip mosaic virus (TuMV).

First report of Plum bark necrosis stem pitting-associated virus in Bulgaria detected by DAS-ELISA
Plum bark necrosis stem pitting-associated virus (PBNSPaV), the causal agent of plum bark necrosis stem pitting disease, belongs to the genus Ampelovirus in the family Closteroviridae. In the past 20 years, the virus was reported in Europe, North Africa,
