Phylogeny of the Ammonia-Producing Ruminal Bacteria Peptostreptococcus anaerobius, Clostridium sticklandii, and Clostridium aminophilum sp. nov. [PDF]
In previous studies, gram-positive bacteria which grew rapidly with peptides or an amino acid as the sole energy source were isolated from bovine rumina. Three isolates, strains C, FT (T = type strain), and SR, were considered to be ecologically important since they produced up to 20-fold more ammonia than other ammonia-producing ruminal bacteria.

Dextran sodium sulfate confounds causal role of periodontitis in inflammatory bowel disease
Abstract Background Emerging evidence supports a bidirectional link between periodontitis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). To investigate this relationship, experimental models commonly use dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) to induce colitis. However, DSS is presumed to selectively affect the colon, and its potential off‐target effects on the oral ...

Host Phylogeny and Feeding Habit Jointly Govern Mammalian Gut Microbiota Composition
Herbivores showed higher alpha diversity than carnivores/omnivores, while omnivores had the highest beta diversity. Host phylogeny influenced gut microbiota more strongly in herbivores/omnivores, with phylogenetic distance correlating to microbiota dissimilarity.

Clostridium magnum sp. nov., a non-autotrophic homoacetogenic bacterium [PDF]
A new mesophilic, sporeforming, strictly anaerboic bacterium was isolated form enrichments with 2,3-butanediol as sole substrate and pasteurized freshwater sediment as inoculum. Cells were large, motile rods, and elliptical spores were formed subterminally or centrally.

Social rank in greater long‐tailed hamsters (Tscherskia triton) shapes gut microbiota composition and metabolite profiles. Dominant males exhibit a “high‐vigilance, metabolically activated” phenotype, with elevated aggression and specific gut microbiota enriched in energy‐harvesting taxa and fecal queuine.

Cryptococcid Sweet Syndrome in the Setting of Hydralazine‐Induced ANCA Vasculitis: A Case Report
ABSTRACT Acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis, also known as Sweet syndrome, is an inflammatory skin condition characterized by the rapid onset of painful, erythematous plaques or nodules with neutrophilic infiltrate on histology. Rarely, acellular bodies surrounded by vacuolated spaces have been noted within the neutrophilic infiltrate, mimicking ...

ABSTRACT The interplay between the commensal microbiota and the mammalian immune system may influence the outcomes of T cell‐driven cancer immunotherapies. However, clinical studies supporting microbiota‐based interventions in chimeric antigen receptor T‐cell (CAR‐T) therapy remain scarce.

Effect of nipasol on composition of luminal microflora in large intestine of white rats
The effect of the antimicrobial preservative nipasol on qualitative and quantitative composition of large intestine microflora in rats was studied. It was established that representatives of genera Bacteroides, Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus, Escherichia,

Two novel anaerobic, mesophilic, biohydrogen-producing bacteria, designated strains ZGM211T and G1T, were isolated from lake sediment. 16S rRNA and ATP synthase beta subunit (atpD) gene sequences and phylogenetic analysis of strains ZGM211T and G1T revealed an affiliation to the genus Clostridium sensu stricto (cluster I of the clostridia), with ...
