Diagnosing the system: Mental health, necropolitical uncare, and the abolition of migration detention

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract This article examines the psychological effects of migration detention in the European Union's Closed Controlled Access Center (CCAC) on Samos through an ecological lens. It explores a double normalization of suffering: the brutalization of necropolitical migration governance and the simultaneous understanding of resulting distress as an ...

Helping financially under‐resourced unmarried mothers move forward and flourish: Feasibility findings from an innovative coaching‐centered place‐based initiative

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Longer‐duration, holistic, cohort‐based, coach‐led interventions may be particularly effective in promoting both economic health and emotional well‐being among unmarried mothers living in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Aligning with the 1999 Centers for Disease Control (CDC) framework for program evaluation, this study presents a ...

Beyond Canonical CO Oxidation: Structural and Evolutionary Insights Into a Non‐Canonical Carbon Monoxide Dehydrogenase

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Clade B carbon monoxide dehydrogenases (CODHs) remain enigmatic, diverging from canonical CODHs in structure and function. Here, we present the first characterization of Ruminococcus flavefaciens CODH (RfCODH), revealing occluded substrate pathways and attenuated CO oxidation activity.

Essential, Yet Precarious, Mistreated, Sick and Medicalized: A Sequential Explanatory Mixed‐Methods Study on Homecare Aides in Spain

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Homecare aides (HCAs) are professional non‐family caregivers, who support dependent individuals to live at home with dignity; yet in Spain they remain understudied and vulnerable, often facing precarious working conditions. We aimed to characterize HCAs’ employment, living conditions, health, and exposure to workplace violence and ...

Selective Degradation of Polyurethanes in Mixed Plastic Wastes via Ir‐Catalyzed Hydrogenolysis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The selective degradation of polyurethanes in mixed plastic wastes with polyesters and polyamides was achieved using H2 as a reactant, enabling simultaneous recovery of diformamides and polyols arising from polyurethanes and separation of polyesters and polyamides without any degradation.

Synthesis of Six Natural Products Enabled by Selective Hydroxylation of Orcinaldehyde‐Like Substrates With an Enzyme Library

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Achieving selective (sp3)C–H hydroxylation can streamline the synthesis of complex organic molecules. Biocatalysis presents an opportunity to realize this transformation, however, identifying useful enzymes that enable synthetic strategies can be a challenge due to limitations in enzyme substrate scope.
