Microphysics in Multi-scale Modeling System with Unified Physics [PDF]
Recently, a multi-scale modeling system with unified physics was developed at NASA Goddard. It consists of (1) a cloud-resolving model (Goddard Cumulus Ensemble model, GCE model), (2) a regional scale model (a NASA unified weather research and forecast ...

Statistical properties of cloud lifecycles in cloud-resolving models [PDF]
Abstract. A new technique is described for the analysis of cloud-resolving model simulations, which allows one to investigate the statistics of the lifecycles of cumulus clouds. Clouds are tracked from timestep to timestep within the model run. This allows for a very simple method of tracking, but one which is both comprehensive and robust. An approach

The Impact of Aerosols on Cloud and Precipitation Processes: Cloud-Resolving Model Simulations [PDF]
Aerosols and especially their effect on clouds are one of the key components of the climate system and the hydrological cycle [Ramanathan et al., 2001].

A new modelling framework for statistical cumulus dynamics [PDF]
We propose a new modelling framework suitable for the description of atmospheric convective systems as a collection of distinct plumes. The literature contains many examples of models for collections of plumes in which strong simplifying assumptions are ...

Overlap properties of clouds generated by a cloud‐resolving model [PDF]
The overlap properties of ∼850 snapshots of convective cloud fields generated by a cloud‐resolving model are studied and compared with previously published results based on cloud radar observations. Total cloud cover is overestimated by the random overlap assumption but underestimated by the maximum overlap assumption and two standard implementations ...

A Complexation‐Mediated Diffusion‐Limited Growth (CMDLG) framework is established to rationalize the anisotropic growth of lead‐free perovskites. Integrating coordination chemistry with mass transport kinetics, this study theoretically derives and experimentally validates that stable iodocuprate complexes induce a diffusion‐limited regime.
