Measuring Dry Deposition of Sea Spray Aerosol and Height of Aerosol Plume Using a Controlled Wave Pool

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract Deposition of sea spray aerosols facilitates atmospheric corrosion of materials, requiring maintenance and replacement over time. However, the dimensions of sea spray aerosol plumes produced from breaking waves have not been well‐characterized, limiting useful prediction of particle transport downwind and atmospheric corrosion. Therefore, this

Effect of solar variations on particle formation and cloud condensation nuclei

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2014
The impact of solar variations on particle formation and cloud condensation nuclei (CCN), a critical step for one of the possible solar indirect climate forcing pathways, is studied here with a global aerosol model optimized for simulating detailed ...

Molecular Evidence for the Atmospheric Transformation of Trash Burning Aerosol Into Organonitrate‐ and Organosulfate‐Rich Haze: A Case Study From the Eastern Indo‐Gangetic Plain

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract Open burning of solid waste is projected to contribute up to 29% of global anthropogenic PM2.5 emissions, yet its role in secondary aerosol formation remains largely absent from current assessments. Using 21‐T Fourier transform‐ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry, we show that fresh trash burning organic aerosol (tbOA) in the Indo ...

Sulfur Dioxide Point Sources Remain Important for Daytime Plume‐Scale New Particle Formation in the United States: Case Study for Gary, Indiana During the Summer 2023 AEROMMA Aircraft Campaign

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract Plumes from sulfur dioxide (SO2) point sources have been shown to be significant contributors to new particle formation (NPF), but SO2 emissions in the United States (US) have decreased drastically by ∼10× since the early 2000s. We present observations of plume‐scale NPF from SO2 point sources over the industrial hub in Gary, Indiana and ...

Cloud Microphysics and Drizzle Relationships With CCN Modality in Southern Ocean Stratocumuli

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract Extended‐range high resolution cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) modality relationships to cloud microphysics and drizzle of the First Aerosol Characterization Experiment (ACE 1) were consistent with Physics of Stratocumulus Tops (POST) and Marine Stratus/Stratocumulus Experiment (MASE) observations.

Embedded Ferroelectric Nanoclusters Can Drive Polarization Reversal in a Non‐Ferroelectric Polar Film via the Proximity Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 81, 8 October 2026.
Ferroelectric nanoclusters create local internal fields in a normally non‐switchable polar film because of polarization mismatch at their interfaces. That field opposes polarization in the regions with larger polarization and reinforces polarization in the regions with smaller polarization.

Targeted β‐Glucan‐Veiled Oral Apremilast Nanotherapy Modulates Key Dysbiosis‐Associated Gut Microbiota and Alleviates Ulcerative Colitis‐Associated Anxiety, Depression, and Neuropsychiatric Behaviors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 55, 5 October 2026.
This study introduces β‐glucan‐shielded apremilast laden nanomicelles that withstand gastrointestinal degradation, selectively accumulate in inflamed colon tissue, and modulate the microbiota–gut–brain axis. The formulation restores barrier integrity, reduces systemic and neuroinflammation, and improves anxiety‐ and depression‐like behaviors in colitis

Development of Benzothiophene–Bearing Bis–oxadiazole Derivatives for Potential Anticancer Targets: Evaluation of DFT, ADME–Tox, and In Silico Docking

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 10, October 2026.
Innovative synthesis of a novel benzothiophene–based bis–oxadiazole derivatives. The structural characterization was performed using experimental and theoretical methods. Significant anticancer activity against selected cancer cell lines. Three derivatives showed good activity 7b, 7g and 7i with IC50 values 7.5 ± 1.04 and 9.5 ± 1.01 µg/mL.

From Flybys to Sample Return: A Review of Space Probes and Robotic Sampling Technologies for Small Bodies

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 7, Page 4475-4514, October 2026.
ABSTRACT As a crucial puzzle piece of deep space exploration, exploring small bodies can provide significant scientific insights and valuable mineral resources. Unlike missions to the Moon and Mars, small‐body missions pose distinct technical challenges, including communication delays, weak gravity, and uncertain environments. This paper reviews a full
