A Mobility Management Using Follow-Me Cloud-Cloudlet in Fog-Computing-Based RANs for Smart Cities

open access: yesSensors, 2018
Mobility management for supporting the location tracking and location-based service (LBS) is an important issue of smart city by providing the means for the smooth transportation of people and goods. The mobility is useful to contribute the innovation in

Low Latency Global Carbon Budget Reveals Late 2024 Carbon Losses and Contrasting Early 2025 Land Sink Recovery Signals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Low latency carbon budget estimates for July 2024–June 2025 combine atmospheric CO2 growth rates, fossil emissions, ocean uptake, DGVM land fluxes, and OCO‐2 inversions. The budget shows that late‐2024 land carbon losses dominate the annual anomaly, while early‐2025 recovery differs between bottom‐up models and top‐down inversions, especially in ...

A New Processing Approach for Reducing Computational Complexity in Cloud-RAN Mobile Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Cloud computing is considered as one of the key drivers for the next generation of mobile networks (e.g. 5G). This is combined with the dramatic expansion in mobile networks, involving millions (or even billions) of subscribers with a greater number of ...

Evaluation of energy and cost savings in mobile Cloud RAN [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The load in mobile networks is subject to variations during the day, due to user mobility and varying network average usage. Therefore, the traditional or Distributed Radio Access Network (D-RAN) architecture, where the BaseBand processing Units (BBUs ...

ACSL4‐Dependent Lysosomal Lipid Peroxidation Links WTAP‐Mediated m6A Modification to Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IL‐1β upregulates the protein level of WTAP, which promotes the m6A modification of ACSL4 mRNA in an IGF2BP2‐dependent manner, thereby enhancing its stability. The increased ACSL4 drives lipid peroxidation, leading to lysosomal membrane permeabilization (LMP) and impaired mitophagy, which collectively accelerate intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD).

End-to-End Power Models for 5G Radio Access Network Architectures with a Perspective on 6G

open access: yesMathematics
5G, the fifth-generation mobile network, is predicted to significantly increase the traditional trajectory of energy consumption. It now uses four times as much energy as 4G, the fourth-generation mobile network.

Recent Progress on C-RAN Centralization and Cloudification

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2014
This paper presents the latest progress on cloud RAN (C-RAN) in the areas of centralization and virtualization. A C-RAN system centralizes the baseband processing resources into a pool and virtualizes soft base-band units on demand.

TwinRAN: Twinning the 5G RAN in Azure Cloud

open access: yesNOMS 2025-2025 IEEE Network Operations and Management Symposium
The proliferation of 5G technology necessitates advanced network management strategies to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Digital Twin (DT)s have emerged as a promising paradigm for modeling and simulating complex systems like the 5G Radio Access Network (RAN). In this paper, we present TwinRAN, a DT of the 5G RAN built leveraging the Azure
