Mapping the Twilight Zone—What We Are Missing between Clouds and Aerosols

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
Scientific understanding of aerosol-cloud interactions can profit from an analysis of the transition regions between pure aerosol and pure clouds as detected in satellite data.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Evolution of prolate molecular clouds at HII boundaries - I. formation of fragment-core structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The evolution of a prolate cloud at an HII boundary is investigated using smoothed particle hydrodynamics. The prolate molecular clouds in our investigation are setwith their semi-major axis perpendicular to the radiative direction of a plane-parallel ...

The Ni,Cd Heteroatoms‐Initiated Synergistic Tuning of Electron Configuration in Fe2VO4 Nanosheets Electrocatalysts to Profoundly Stabilize Alkaline Seawater Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni,Cd‐codoped Fe2VO4/NF bifunctional electrocatalyst is rationally designed for efficient seawater electrolysis. Synergistic effect modulates electron configuration, optimizes intermediates adsorption, stabilizes high‐valence Fe/V sites, and repels chloride ions to suppress corrosion and side reactions, thus contributing to performance improvement of

Spatial and Temporal Adaptive Gap-Filling Method Producing Daily Cloud-Free NDSI Time Series

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2020
The normalized difference snow index (NDSI) is the most popular snow detection index. Due to cloud cover, it is difficult to produce complete and gap-free NDSI datasets.

Designed Lewis Acid–Base Passivation for High Performance Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silicon's high cost and long energy payback time remain major barriers to the global expansion of solar power. In contrast, metal–halide perovskites offer abundant, solution‐processable absorbers, and have achieved efficiencies of 25%–30%, positioning them as strong competitors to silicon.

Classifying direct normal irradiance 1‑minute temporal variability from spatial characteristics of geostationary satellite-based cloud observations

open access: yesMeteorologische Zeitschrift, 2020
Variability of solar surface irradiances in the 1‑minute range is of interest especially for solar energy applications. Eight variability classes were previously defined for the 1 min resolved direct normal irradiance (DNI) variability inside an hour. In
